Funny you say that. I was 6-9 years old when we had that, I don’t remember my dad not liking it cause he had to work on it all the time. Looking back it didn’t run much. Always broke and like you said a lot of it was the clutch.
This bring back some great memories. We had a few back in the day including a Honda 200M, Big Red 250, 200X, 350X, 250R and my brother had a Yamaha 250 Tri Z. Good times Pretty sure my cousin still has a 350X.
I had a Honda 200s in high school. My best friend had a 185 and another buddy had the 200x. We had a blast on those things. There may have been a few trips up onto the median of I-90 on occasion. Troopers never did catch us, but we stayed closed to the abandoned railroad bed.
We were on a ride back in the late 80's when someone that knew everything about riding ( ) put their foot down just as you mentioned. The tire climbed right up her calf and pinned her in place! Very valuable lesson learned for that individual!!
That never even occurred to me or my brother to do that on our Kawi 110 as kids. I mean it had foot pegs after all!
And I have Bigfoot split/stack my wood too! I seen a nice one the other day for $6k...but it was not THAT nice! A few years back there was a brand new '87 350x (yes '87...Honda made a few which actually got shipped to dealers and then the goobement outlawed 3 wheelers...so Honda recalled them...all but a very few were rounded back up) that a guy had pics of on one of the FB Honda ATC groups...it was brand new, never fired, and was stored in some sort of bubble...he said he had turned down a $10k offer for it (and like I said, this was 4-5 years ago now...prices have exploded since then!)
I was 12 when they were outlawed from selling new ones. That said, my cousins had a couple of them on the farms and we rode them quite a bit. I had a few moments and a bit of leg burn one, but never rolled one. My cousin's did though, and they bought 4 wheelers and mules after that.
The Big Red looks great! I had a 1985 200X for a few years in the early 2000’s. Used to ride with guys on 4x4 quads. The X could hold it’s own. I did have a bad crash on it; rear tire hit a rock and it did the classic three wheeler roll. A buddy behind me thought they were going to have to call 911 and then figure out how to get me out of the middle of woods we were in, miles from any road. I remember starting to go over, the engine reving, the. Things got really quiet. After dusting myself off, I managed to ride the rest of the day. I think I cracked a rib because it hurt to sneeze or laugh hard for weeks. So glad I had a helmet on and full riding gear. Sold the trike for what I paid for it after a few years. The value of these things now are insane.
Man, haven't seen some of these names for a while. I have a couple 2nd gen big reds and a Kawasaki klt110 (it's my pit trike). Also have a fl350 that holds extreme sentimental value to me. Some quads but we dont talk about those around these parts lol.
My 2nd gen 200x with one of the reds. I posted them on here years ago under photobucket, can still find them on google which brings me back to fhc.
There would be a lot more 350x's out there still if they hadn't cabbaged a bunch of the engines to put in TRX250R frames for racing...
I meant stuff I've put on photobucket lol. I know a guy who probably has 20+ 350x engines and who knows how many trx250r frames, and he did exactly what you think he did with them. Hes a good friend, but wont let me see any of it... he knows how bad I want it, it's the whole carrot on a string thing lol. He has a EEE IRS 250r frame also, hopefully I will own it one of these days.
