At the top of this page you will see a new sticky. This is something we worked on for a while. It is not perfect by any means but does cover many of the things that new wood burners need to know.

Please read over the article and then comment on it here. Thank you.

Dennis, this is the definitive work on wood burning. You covered every aspect in detail. I wish this would be read by everyone new to wood burning. You are the godfather of wood. Thanks for educating so many of us.

Wow Dennis, Woodstock should make this into a pamphlet and distribute it with all their stoves!

(Uh, well...maybe not their gas stoves...)

That was very well written Dennis. Thanks for posting as it should help many new burners and maybe some "seasoned" ones.

Thanks fellas. This is something that I had been thinking about doing for a long time. Then once I finally got started, it seemed that we were swamped and had very little spare time. But we got this far and decided to stop, at least for a while. There is much that could be added and any suggestions anyone has will be appreciated. We're considering a more detailed look into the felling and bucking of trees and perhaps something on installation. If this comes to pass, I'm hoping it could become a group project with several folks writing a part then putting them together into one. It will be quite an undertaking but could be fun too. In addition, I've been prompted by many to write a book on this and may consider that some day. It would be a future project.

In the meantime, don't hesitate to add suggestions and point out any errors you might find. This would please all of us here I'm sure.

If you wrote a book, would you sign them too for us? Very good write up Dennis. Even the not so newbies will be reading for a quick refresh!

I'm not through all of it yet, but so far lots of great info.

Nice Job, how many bowls of ice cream did you down while writing the info?

Dennis, to reach some uninformed and maybe to keep some people from having chimney fires have you thought about submitting this to some local newspapers?

That boys & girls is what happens when common sense, experience, & intelligence collide. Too bad we don't see more stuff like this in the world. Nice job Dennis. Thanks for taking the time. A C
