I’ve got a 20 year old North Star 22 ton splitter that I haven’t got a manual on and Northern Tools can’t come up with any information on. The hydro fluid cap doesn’t have a dipstick on it so I don’t know what level to fill it to. Anyone have an opinion on how much space I need to leave for expansion?
I’d leave about 1 1/2” from top of tank. That should give you expansion room without overflow. Mike in Okla
If there is no dipstick there's usually a sight glass or bubble...yours has neither? Couple inches down should do it...
Nope, neither. So either it never had anything which is hard to believe, or the dipstick fell off and is lying at the bottom of the tank which would be about my luck.
