Great that you got a sawing job!
Sorry about the nail, but it goes with the terrain of portable sawing, unfortunately....
We use a metal detector any time we are sawing yard or farm trees.

So I’ve hit nails and screws csm’ing. I know what it does to chain. What does a band look like after?

Depends on the strike and the type of band usually either rips the tooth off or just dings it up bad and knocks the set out the bi-metal bands I use can cut a small common nail it knocks the set out so you are done cutting smooth boards but most times the blade is savable but a heavy strike rips teeth off JB

Looks like the site was pretty good just always go look at the site first I found out the hard way when I first started that a lot of people are clueless on how a mill works and the area you need to set up Good luck with your milling JB

It was dinged up bad and messed the set up so the blade started diving

I learned a lot of fine point questions I need to ask in the future that is for sure. The logs were from somewhere else and they got dumped where the owners park their cars if there is snow forecast. So really easy to set up.

I have no real plans to do this all that often, but it is nice to mill some pretty wood; and he has to deal with loading it up and haul it to his warehouse in Waynesboro and stack and sticker it.

Yeah it lets you know in a hurry I have had to cut the board off with a saw just to get the blade out before and I have broken a blade on a door hinge in a log
