    Firewood! Sorry i had to be the first!

    Bark looks like basswood. Basswood wood is very light color wise. Not enough experience with it to say the wood can be different colors.

    I lived (and cut timber) in the pnw for 43 years.... it looks like maple to me.

    Edited to add: it's one of the best firewoods of our commonly available native NW species.

    i'd be willing to bet all wood would be very wet this time of the year. Saps way up, spring is just around the corner. 2 wks ago, maples were bleeding like no tomorrow as soon as they were cut.
