16 degrees outside, 55 degrees inside and the stove is running as hot as I can get it with a red oak and poplar blend.
(My house was built to be a summer cabin, so I have a lot of windows that are not very well insulated so it's difficult to keep it warm, so I stay close to the woodstove on days like today.)

Going to warm up to freezing today. (yeah, that's an oxymoron )

Thanks, sorry for your situation too. Our drifts have layers of dirt too, incredible. My guess on the top cracking was a cold burst like when it hails it drops 20* in minutes and the drift was soft from warmer temps earlier, and the 50 mph wind gusts that were picking up chunks of snow crashed some into it or just the force of the wind. Like you know, they are brown again today, like I'm in the valley of a dirt bike track.

72/30 just throwing random uglies and such in. Looking at the forecast this season might be winding down.

    15/75. Beautiful night out there!

I brought the garbage up the driveway without any yard lights turned on. Not quite 1/2 moon was so bright it was casting shadows. Mild temps and didn't even bother to wear gloves for the 12 minute walk.

I always try to locate Polaris, but the sky to the north was clouded up; no luck tonight.

Looks like the daytime highs for the next week will be 30's and low 40's. That'd be nice!

I live in a coal town so our snow gets some black towards the spring as well.

It's 44 now, heading for a low of 37. I've got white oak going. I've had more splinters in my hands this season.

I always look for Polaris also, and the big and little dippers.

All I gotta do is look at our flag to find Polaris.
    Just kidding. :salute:
Last I checked , it was still up there.
    -11°F ambient temperature
About a 10 knot breeze that built to 15 to 25 during the day . Down to about 5 knots now.
Firekilled Black spruce in the stove for the night.
Wife got the cold I had so she will be staying home tomorrow. She is doing better with it than I did. It knocked me down pretty hard.
I'm much improved and plan on trying to go to the woods tomorrow.
Was another Beautiful March day today. I'm very glad I have heated handles on my 572 Husky.

Wind has relented for few days  Any bets on how long til these melt? I hope the tarp on the trampoline makes it. The drifts collapsed our wire yard fences a couple months ago and our dog was getting out so the loose wire fabric you see is her temporary yard til the icebergs melt and we can repair the yard fences.

It took me a minute to recognize what I was looking at! I was wondering what a sand dune was doing in your back yard... Then thought maybe it was a mudslide that came down from the mountains... In a place like that, entire vehicles could be lost for months :bug:
