Had about an hour of sunlight last night to go do some cutting. I got to the tree dump and got two nice pieces of red oak and these two big boys. Snapchat-524094745.jpg
The first cut went a lot smoother than the second. I managed to keep the first cut aligned so that it was nice and clean. The second, I got misaligned and had to do a bunch of small cuts to get it break free. Noodled them in half and split them up with the stihl maul.
There's probably seven or eight more rounds this size in three logs down at the dump. Ill try to get some log pics this week.
There are still a lot of big ash trees in my area that are still alive, but a town just 15 miles south of us got hit bad and took down a couple hundred trees. It will be an interesting summer. My brother just bought a house with four or five large ones.

I would try and get all the ash you can. It does make some good firewood. Congrats on your haul.

Nice haul! As Mag Craft said, get all you can. Good fast drying firewood, keeps well and will soon be gone.
