You may already know, but just in case you don't, There is an electric hot water heater that has a heat pump on it much like the mini split. World of differnce in cost of hot water heating. Yes, they do cost more, but your state may have a rebate (ours does) That brings the cost down to a regular water heater. The difference is the savings in heating hot water. The only issue with them is they generate some condensate that you have to deal with. I wanted to go with one of those, but our HW is off the furnace and is tankless. We love our mini split.

Apparently you do care a little bit, as you decided to insult my mindset.
I did say I was not going to get into a pi$$ing contest with you about weights that we get.
But since you know more about what we get, than I do,
I just want to point something out to you.
For 7 years, I have been telling jokes here, been sharing help if I could,
been advising of pellet supply issues, prices etc.
Have even met some of the members.
I have been shooting straight all that time.
To the best of my knowledge, in the short time you have been here,
you seem to enjoy ruffling feathers,
and telling all of us how much awesome stuff you own.
and now, don't mind insulting people, saying I live in a fantasy world.
Been associated with Henry's pellet business for over 10 years. Known him for 40.
The reason our guys can deliver more than you believe, is because they have
special permits, for OS/OW... they have stickers on their trucks indicating that.
Not every state issues those.. Like CT, I believe.
The photos are from a couple of deliveries we have recently got.
One is for 30 ton... one for 24.
we have a 32 coming in possibly next week.
And yes, I actually do occasionally unload them.

I may live in a fantasy world... but at least I'm happy..
Do me a favor... just pass on by my posts, and I will pass by yours.

My granddaughter works at Lowes. She texted me the other day and said they were putting Green Supremes on sale for $4 a bag. My wife happened to be shopping in Seabrook with her sister so I texted her and ask her to stop by Lowes and pick up a couple bags for me to try. She came home with 10 bags. Except...they were not Green Supremes. They were Lowes store brand. I did see a MWP on the bag so I am guessing they are Maine Woods Pellet. Oh well. At $4 a bag I figured I would see how the Accentra eats them. Well, they burn. Heat output seems ok. But....my God do they make a ton of ash! I have been burning Vermonts and every couple of days I open the door to scrape the burn pot and wipe the window. I did the same thing after burning the MWPs for 2 days and when I opened the door, a ton of ash fell out. It had built up on the hinges so high that it got scraped off when the door opened. My ash pan was empty a week ago and now it is 1/4 full. When I emptied it last week it was 1/2 full and that was from before Christmas. Amazing the difference between pellets.

By the way. Lowes had Green Supremes at $6.17 a bag.

Supposably, the mini splits have some Energy Save rebates that almost pay for them. I believe an energy efficient hot water heater also has rebates. With the kids gone, our hot water use should be pretty minimum. Thanks for the info!

I ran out of Matras this year. I went to the place I got them from and they were out. I ended up with ten bags of New Englands. Has got to be the darkest pellet I have ever seen. My hopes aren't high.

MWP's are a nice middling pellet, but middling pellets will always have more ash and the pot will need to be scraped more often than the high end one like Vermonts. They also won't put out as much heat. I like them because they are a good value for me. Sure, I have to clean my stoves more often than some that are more expensive, but I don't mind and I don't need huge heat. Also, the P61a needs to burn middling pellets so it doesn't gunk up from not getting warm before it hits room temp and shuts down - just the special circumstances that it is in.

NEWPs are a decent middling pellet, the only reason I don't usually burn them is because they are priced too high in my area and I can get MWP's for about $50 less per ton. I did get a few bags off of CL last fall for cheap, and they were fine. Of course I am used to burning those types of pellets so you may not be happy.

Thank you Dan….for succinctly stating how I (and others who have me messaged privately) feel. The overwhelming majority of us are here to help and learn. In all the years I’ve been a member here and on the “other” forum, I’ve never had to take advantage of the ignore button. That is no longer the case……

Yep,yep and yep. Many states allow heavier weights for home heating fuels, just as some allow heavier weights in winter(usually colder climate states) and less weight in the wet seasons.

I've looked at them, $750 dollar rebate off the approx $1000 tag on a 60 gal heater. The rebate is at time of purchase discount so no waiting which is nice.

AO Smith at Lowes is were I saw this.

It’s a $750 rebate in Maine as well. I’m going to install one in my place up north this year when I open up. I have the perfect setup. A full basement with high ceiling. Its damp in that space and the hybrid heat pump acts as a dehumidifier when it runs.

I could use a dehumidifier in the cellar! :D Its on our list of adds to the shack too. After the rebate, Its just barely more expensive than a standard water heater. :D

Just came from Henry's about an hour ago. I work nearby and had to get out for a "short break" before I choked someone :hair:. Got in the truck and stopped in to see what's what for next year and see about bags for getting thru the next month.

Spoke with Henry for a bit and got the layout for next year. LaCretes are likely going away (at least thru Henry) due to cost of shipping from Western Canadia. Some LaCrete are coming this week or next but that might be the last of them. Matra will remain stable as well as LG Super Premium.

Surprised that he is still doing the $19 flat rate deliveries this year within 20 miles, but limited time on that.

Picked up 15 bags of the LG Super Premium to try out. 5 bucks a bag for the 33lb which will be easier to carry from the garage, through the house and down the stairs to the basement.

As always Henry is a pleasure to deal with !

Nice G. The "Satisfaction" LG pellets have been burning here consistently well every year, they do like extra air (glowing bright) to get the max benefit from the small stove here.

I miss traveling out to Durham / the occasional stop @ McManus: Emily has been out of UNH going on 3 yrs. now since she graduated. :(

I'm thinking it might be time for a "Road Trip" to visit Henry this Spring.

And a big Amen to Spring, can't get here fast enough. Was 5F this am, chilly.

Have a Fun day all, Think Spring!

I'll need to keep that in mind. Cindy and I have real issues now with the 40lb. bags. I've been considering putting the 40 bag into two 5 gal. pails for easier handling, but doing that out in the cold in very discouraging. Plus there is the mess issue with spilled pellets. Smaller bags seems a good idea, but with that comes increased cost. My physical limitations may direct what I get to do.

I did ask about price difference between the 40lb bag LG and the 33lb bag LG-It was 10 or 20 per ton difference so not much if the weight helps. Carried those 33lb bags in last night and that 7lbs less on my shoulder made a noticeable difference.

Henry did mention there was a brand with 17lb bags that the older people really like. Dont remember the brand though.
