Pics of Caledonia chainsaw races 8/17/2014

Here are some pics of the Houston County fair in Caledonia MN which had the chainsaw races.

I took 2nd in the 25 year and older category. (That sounds better than saying I was last in category wit only two entrants.)

Way cool pictures!! I'd like to go to one of these but never hear of them around here.

 

That guy was kind of funny. He showed up with his BIG 084 Stihl with a BIG bar and was going to show everybody. Well he did not.

The Minnesota boys like their Huskies and they run pretty darn good.

 

Man I $ucked. Their is a lot to be said for technique in the races. If you stall the saw, it's like throwing an anchor out in a drag race.

 

The 028 was 4 seconds faster than my ported 346XP.

 

I would of never guessed that
Builder must know his stuff

 

The only difference was the 028 had 3/8ths on and the 346 had .325 chisel, both round ground.

The square ground chisel rules the day at these things.

 

I suppose now I should start a search for a square grind grinder.

 

Round grind at a race would be like taking a knife to a gun fight
