Thought I would share a project saw that came my way. She's a dirty booger ! I like em that way !! Tore it down a little. Kind of appears to never have had the recoil ..air filter housing...or bar cover cleaned out..ever ! It was like a thick layer of cement ! The typical problems with these old saws....and this one has em all. Feels like good compression..no official check yet. But....fuel line rotted off....and no spark ! I'm sure the carb needs a cleaning too. Should be a fun project ! I think there should be an old Homelite on every work bench ! As I got it. Old original Homelite 16" hard-nosed bar also came with it. Started the cleaning process !
I got an old Remington that I may not tinker with until I’m retired. My buddy has a mint Homelite that he was trying to sell a few weeks ago.
Double trigger super 2 they are a little hard to find in that nice shape oilers go bad in them and the diaphragm is a little hard to find but they were a decent little saw 1.75hp 32:1 mix made@1976-1982 JB
Was able to take about 30 minutes and pop the flywheel off this old girl. I've read that some of these have electronic ignition and some of points . I'm glad this has the points...cause I'm gonna put one of those little electronic ignition thingimadoodles...on there....cheap....and done forever ! None of those expensive coils that are hit or miss too.
Hey one thing you want to look at close is the coil mount just to the right of the condenser they are notorious for cracking there usually right under where it says point adjustment remove all the mounting screws for the ignition mount and put some locktite on them JB
Got it back together....got the new fuel line in....got a tough mix of Seafoam and 40:1 in the tank. Got it to pop off and run off choke. So I got it nice and warmed up...let that Seafoam do its job. I'd rather not rebuild the carb..not my strong suit ! I'll get her tuned in soon I hope !
