32*f at 7:45 this morning supposedly on its way to 60. Reload of standing dead elm this morning, then probably won’t worry about it until bedtime. But this is the forecast I want to get my last little bit of oak brought in today for this cold spell. Not so much because I’m convinced it is that great of cold weather firewood, but mostly because I want it gone from the rack it’s in. I have a bunch of hackberry coming and that’s where it needs to go.
19 out last night and woke up to 26 this morning. Going for a high in the mid 40's today with colder temps later this week. 100 miles north of me they are forecast to get 6-12 inches of snow tonight and tomorrow.
Right now it’s 20 out, 74 in. Couple pieces of red oak to boost the room temps in the firebox. Headed to 42.
It was pretty cold out last night. I saw 15° on the lacrosse weather station. I burned ash, and a piece of 3 yr seasoned honey locust. Good stuff as the stove room was, 78° most of the night. Woke up this am, and it is windy. Just the other day we had 56 mph gusts. They said it would be very windy up to 45mph gusts with SW winds bringing warm air up here. It was already 31° @7:30 this am, supposed to get to 51°. The forecast isn't that bad at all. However we might actually get some snow early in the week.
29 and holding steady for the overnight. Red oak and red maple shorties up to bat tonight. I just brought in 3 wheelbarrow loads of spruce, as the next few days will only need an evening fire and another one early in the morning. Looks like by Thursday it’ll be back to seasonal temperatures for us.
48 and 74. Burning down hackberry coals. Supposed to be close to 60 next couple of days. Thinking I might let stove go cold and give the furnace a test.
Mid-60's today so went out and split the rest of Edwin's wood as his knee has been giving him lots of trouble and he overworks it. Stacked it in totes so now waiting to see if he approves what I did.
We had - 7.4 this morning, I shut the pellet stove off and the Lopi received another load of Ash with the same going in tonight. Our outside temp is 38.1 tonight and the temp up here at 70.
10/70 currently. This is another one of those days where we have probably already hit the high temperature. Lots of snow on the way.
Currently 18/70. 2 pieces of red oak on the coal bed this am and lots of draft to get back some heat. Plan to let the fire go out during the daylight hours as it’s headed to the 60’s for the next 3 days.
50 now, supposed to get to 63 today. Mud is out of control and we're supposed to get another 1-2" of rain/snow this week. I turned the boiler off this morning so I can fetch some charcoal out of it for dinner tonight.
forecast of 66 today, I'll let the stove go dark for the day, clean it out and get it prepped for tonight's low of 52...
44* today and 25* overnight into tomorrow. Very cold (for the NW) for the next few days, as low as 18*. Brought in a huge wheeler load of Doug Fir into the garage. Burning some now and house is pleasantly warm. Need to rive up a load of kindling though for the next week. Life is good!
Around +5° F ambient Winds at 20 with gusts to 45 mph. Solid overcast Drifts are building more. And more . And more. Fkws + Fkbs in the stove. I seriously NEED a piece of iron. I've been thinking more and more of an old D8H Long track dozer I used to work in Glennallen. 14' wide U blade. Just the blade weighed 26,000 lbs. That would handle this snow and drifting ! My pickup snow plow is too light and too little. The problem with big iron, if it breaks down , it's Really expensive to get it back up and running.
