I heard a thud last night, this morning I found this ash down in the woods in back of my property. I have had my eye on it because it was obviously dead. It came down right where I would have dropped it. I had fun bucking it. Looks like the biggest rounds were 10” - 12”. Wood seems nice. I will probably split, stack it, and burn it next year.

    That'll work!

Did you check to see what moisture content it is at now?

Isn't it great when things work out just right? Wood looks good, no rot.
I envy you for your snowless ground.

Having cut and tested the MC of a lot of ash, especially dead standing stuff, it's probably upper 20's to low 30's and if split and stacked now should easily be ready to burn next fall.

That's an awesome thing about ash. Low MC even if living

Nice! Windy it has been, but nothing much around here in terms of windfall. I have noticed more and more like that coming down with the rootball. Any more dead ones around Thom?
