has anyone got any opinions on the magnetic rear view mirrors for use on tractors? I see a bunch on eBay and I sure could use one, but what one is decent.

I don’t use magnetic ones . I scrounged a couple of the old rectangular ones you used to see on the 80’s pick ups . Threw a convex on it to make sure no one is in a blind spot . They’re pretty stout and tree/ brush proof .

That's a good idea and I was looking at replacement vintage truck mirrors.
I imagine the magnetic one could wind up falling off and going right under the wheel.

I mounted one of those large round convex mirrors like they have on the front of school buses on our side-arm mower tractor...works out pretty well...took a lil re-engineering to mount it sturdy like...I bet a creative guy like yourself could mount one up on your JD... ;)
