Another time I was in a 1 ton dump. We were doing ramps and there was a bridge expansion joint right after a ramp that was notorious for having plow edges fall into it. One of our other small trucks was being run by our plasterer. Very nice guy, but not that bright. He had his edge hit the joint twice. So I pulled him aside and said " Make sure you either pick up your plow or angle it the opposite way when you go over that joint" Sure enough next time around I see his edge spinning in circles down the road. About a dozen spins later we pull over and I'm trying to get a grip on this 100 lb edge that's about 0 degrees F. Cold as a witches tit. I look over at him and couldn't help myself. I said "Why Mike...Why couldn't you pick up the damm plow?" Had to bring it back to the garage to put new bolts on.

    Last story for tonight.

The state had a tendency the last few years we plowed to not call us until it was snowing for several hours. There is a slight hill on the road coming out of the yard. My Mack was usually ok, but my brothers Peterbuilt usually spun tires and had a hard time. Sure enough they call and theirs already 4-5"on the roads. Town hadn't plowed yet. Sure enough I get over the hill fine, but his long azz PB gets stuck. Our mechanic happens to pull into the yard and starts giggling. He went to school with my father. Nicest guy you'd ever meet. Could literally fix anything. Also giggled after everything he said. Everything.

He says "I just got new Coopers" "Hook up the chain". I'm thinking theirs no way his F350 is pulling out this monster Peterbuilt. We were short on time and no equipment was warmed up. So we hook up the chain. I'll never forget hearing him giggling with his windows down as his PU pulled out the big tri-axle. Me and my brother couldn't believe it. I told him "I can't believe it David...unbelievable!" He again giggled and patted the Cooper tire like it was a dogs head. I about died of laughter and told him I had to go. Really I couldn't take any more giggling. Me and my brother both laugh about it to this day.

What makes me really sad is Mike the plasterer died at 57 and Dave the mechanic died at 63. Both really great people. David was like a father to me. At least I have stories like these I can look back on and smile and laugh.
