What's on the grill or smoker?

Thank you. Built it this past summer. Wanted a place to keep cooking stuff outside but somewhat protected still. Garage was getting too full to fit wife’s car in there so had to do something!

woody5506 those wings look great. I’m from the Buffalo NY area so we take our wings pretty seriously with the way they are cooked. Never cooked wings in cast iron before but the crisp/char on wings look really good. You just pan fried then sauced right in pan?

Thanks, I'm just an hour from you in Rochester. I grill the wings indirectly on my weber kettle for about an hour then char them a bit over the heat. I do the sauce in the skillet, then just toss the wings in there. Typically I'm just using Red Hot + butter.

Does anyone here use a blackstone griddle? Really been on the fence about getting one for a while now, and of course like everything the price has gone up quite a bit since I last considered one over this past summer. But now its back on my mind. Any downsides to them? Are they propoane hogs or do they go pretty easy on gas? I'd also be storing it outside so I'm a little worried about the griddle itself rusting even if I do keep it seasoned properly it still seems like a risk.

It’ll rust if it’s left outside. Probably ok if you bought the cover as well.

    I have the 36”. It’ll burn between 1 and 2 20lb tanks in a long weekend cooking breakfast for 10 people. I think I paid $300

Funny. I was thinking that those grills would be good if one lived in the Mojave desert where it rains once every 10,000 years as it would match all the other slightly rusty stuff in the desert. (Slight exaggeration of course).

Depending on the wind direction, it could hit the Marines at 29 Palms (location of what at least in the past was the best chow hall in the USMC) or the hippies in Joshua Tree, where I had one of the best slices of pizza I have tasted at Pie for the People! Pizza de Circo….

Shop around a little woody5506, I got mine at TSC as a Black Friday Special for $150.00. Bought a soft cover for like $40.00 and I leave the grill on the deck all year...First winter, so we will see in a month or so how the weather affected it. They also sell a hard cover that just covers the cooking surface.

That's a great deal, because currently the 36" models are $360ish? Not sure if 36 is overkill for me though vs the 28". I'd get the hard cover for the cooking surface plus a soft cover. I will say I have a carbon steel griddle for my weber kettle, and as long as it's kept decently oiled it doesn't rust. I'm well in tune with cast iron and seasoning that, plus worked on flat tops in restaurants for a long time but its far different when stuff is kept totally indoors vs even partially outdoors.
