Had a few hours today to get out and do some cutting with BRAD today, once again great time and a perfect day to be out. Finally, my first time running the 500i and that was a beautiful thing. Great throttle response and plenty of power. It should wake up a little more after another couple tanks through it. BRAD ran his new M-Tronic saws as well. All in all, perfect day for fresh air and as always fun and productive. Looking forward to this weekend to hit it again. Hard to keep up with this youngster. Sorry the pictures are probably not the best but the FHC photojournalist had a dead battery in his camera.

And yes that is red oak in my PU. Too much there, primo straight grained and rather easy to get so how could i say no? There is one row of black locust in the PU. Ill cut the locust once the ground thaws more. PITA when logs are frozen to the ground. We struggled with a few of them today.
You are spot on! I was going to go myself the other day but opted out and waited until we could go together ; it is just so much better. Someone to talk with and an extra set of hands are always a good thing; not to mention that just in case something did happen ( god forbid ) there is someone else there. I unloaded my trailer this morning taking advantage of the frozen ground and ready for another go-around this weekend. Looking forward to it.
Where do you get your energy. Cutting splitting and loading for three hours yesterday , went and unloaded the truck , and then saw maintenance. I get tired just thinking about it. I just went home and backed the trailer in the driveway , took saws and tools out of the bed of my truck and put them on the bench. That was enough for me. Usually I take the airhose and blow off saws and put tools away , not yesterday. This old man needs to get out more and back in shape. You're making me look bad.
I more or less do the same. Three 20" chains came with my 460 powerhead four years ago with no bar. One was .404 the others .375 and both are about the same in terms of meat remaining. Id say a couple new ones are in order Does it get harder to square grind when that little meat left on it?
Well i got home, brought saws in. Ate and didnt feel like watching jeopardy or wheel so i kept the saws company. Not crazy about sharpening, so when i feel like it i go with it. Sharpened the other 16" too.
I have yet to grind on a loop w/ that much taken off. I can't imagine it's any different though. All mine that were that far back ended up becoming practice chains for making gtg racing chain. I've only had the grinder for a few months.

More from the same score today , another great day to be outside. Really enjoy working with BRAD. He is woopin' me into shape. Feeling it now. It was good until I tried to back the trailer in the backyard ; didn't end well . Sitting there short of where I wanted it buried up to the axle in mud. Here a couple pictures of the "man" doing his thing.
Like you i quickly went from sweatshirt to short sleeves. High in the upper 50's and near record warmth. Fun day for sure. Taking our time which is one thing i need to do more of when cutting. S%#&$ about the mud. Its going to be a bad year for it with the ground frozen up as much as it has. I more than likely wont back into storage tomorrow. Park on pavement and carry/wheelbarrow to stack. Ill post my picks in the other thread.
