Well css wood today it was a good day! That is a dandy alder, I took home 3 nice logs and cut them up at home. The other wood is maple and my mistake, white fir!
Well we have a few repetitive pictures there. The first thing that crossed my mind was all those btu's just waiting their turn to get used. Pretty good stack of wood.
I know, i did it wrong, my mistake. didn't actually want to repeat the pictures. My excuse, ''i'm tired i guess'', lol.
Thanks "scotty'', i do appreciate it. That alder is the first alder i've cut this year, it was laying in a creek, the sad thing, the first 10 ft was totally rotten inside, only about 2'' of good outside wood. The root system was also rotted That was why it fell in the creek. Now, for the good news, the land owner told me he wants the maples and alders removed, he even loaded my pickup with his tractor this morning!! What a great guy! SPLIT ON!!!
I believe its the white fir, its got a center like doug fir, but the outside rind wood is very whitish and you can actually see the wet/damp, moisture on the outside of the wood. Its almost transparent.
White fir is pretty much all white, like spruce or hemlock, my 35 years of pnw sawmill and logging experience tells me it's regular Doug fir. For firewood it won't make much difference either way, as long as it's dry when you deploy it. Btw, that's a nice cozy looking stack o wood!
