These two are electrician. My oldest, Don, is also going to school for cyber security. His brother RJ, just got promoted to project manager. My youngest, Scott, moved to Colorado and is a restaurant manager.
Went out yesterday and made sure to get one of these first at Tractor Supply Left the 2166 at home so I didn’t cut any bigger stuff. Just wanted to play with the 550xpg. Man that thing rips! Lots of fun. Seems a little heavier than the 2253 (which is basically a 550 Mk I) it replaced, but the heavier duty construction and better heat management are more confidence inspiring. Quicker to start and restart, too. Didn’t bring home much wood. Mostly clearing around the big hickory I want and breaking down what’s left of the crown. Also felled some smaller trees that were in my way.
You might want to check out MFA for bar & chain oil. It was around $7 gallon here last time I looked. It’s been awhile since I was over your way but I believe there are some MFA fuel depots over there in Iowa, maybe they are too far away. I can’t recall, maybe Memphis is the closest. If there is a farmer that gets fuel from MFA often times they will deliver your b/c oil with the tank wagon while making rounds. Bucky’s Best is the name of it
Ha! That's a good one. We get so excited to go and do the things we like and get distracted. A friend of mine and I once we're going on a week long 240 mile kayak trip down the Mississippi River from Grand Rapids to Monticello Mn. Someone [my buddy said it was me but it has been debated for 25 years now] forgot to bring a long the tent and camp stove. Hmmm, week long trip and you have to cook with something and sleep in something. How can you forget those? But we did. Hope you can get back out soon and have at that hickory soon. Maybe write down a checklist of gear??
Not quite that bad here, but more than the stuff I usually get at my saw shop (they were closed that day). I'll check out the MFA if I can find one close.
