I decided against stacking The firewood I’ll be selling this year. I guess some of us are slow learners Nothing looks better than a good stack of wood, but just so much time involved. We’ll see how it goes
I watched a video of a company in Europe and what they do is split the wood right into those half cord bags (bags that they designed themselves). The bags are mesh, heavy duty, and have straps all over the place so they just take a forklift and stack them in rows two bags high on top of pallets. Measuring, drying, and mobile all in one swift motion. That makes a lot of sense to me. .
I have two splitters. TW 6 with hydraulic lift and 6 way wedge as well as the one you see. I hand load it all into my f350 dump truck. I stacked a cord then tossed it in when I first got the truck. I then took spray paint and marked where the wood came up to. I stacked another cord and threw that in which filled the truck. Now I just toss in. There’s no money in stacking the wood every cord
Nice. Do you have any helping on a regular basis or you planning on doing that additional 70 cord all by yourself?
Nope...Nada....no thanks....no way! I ain't taking the bait on that one....but if you and I joined forces
Had my son helping me today. He used to help a lot more often a few years ago but sports and friends generally keep him really busy. It was great having him out there with me.
Have made a lot of progress in the last few weeks. Pile on the right is mixed hardwood and on the left is oak. Oak pile is just over 60’ long. Mixed pile is just under 50’ long
Been making really good progress for this time of year. Each of these oak piles are right around 70’ long while the mixed hardwood pictures is about 40’ long.
First time reading this thread. Really impressive, and I appreciate you sharing how you run your operation.
