Well, we're in for a real mess this weekend. east coast maybe 4 inches of rain, some snow, a large amount of freezing rain. central, possibly 2 feet of snow. It's on the west coast right now moving eastward.

that much rain means some flooding, 2 feet of snow means 2 feet of snow. Which is worse, hard to say.

Have to make a cold trip out to road this morning as it is trash and recycling day. It's not so bad when it is a bit warmer but not so nice now. I'd leave it another week but think I might have too much so will get rid of it.

    Thankful for what you have

    by Pastor Jared Oldenburg

Let me ask you a question. Are you happy? No one’s listening. No one’s writing this down. I’m not asking you about your kids or your boss. I’m asking about you. Are you happy on a scale of 1 to 10?

I want to be clear here. I’m not asking if you should be happy. Theoretically, we should all be happy. We live in one of the richest nations in the world. Most of us have at least one car and a job. Many people have a house, have healthy kids, and are married to someone who loves them back.

Even if theoretically your life is pretty tough, I guarantee I can find someone who has it worse off than you. Try this: Next time you get a rash, just google “severe skin rash” and see if you aren’t thankful for the rash you do have! What just happened there? In an instant, you became thankful for what you do have rather than what you don’t.

Have you ever thought about what you have as a believer? Isaiah reminds us, “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow” (Isaiah 1:18). You have something special. If you were the only one on this planet, God would have come to save you. Through Christ your sins are wiped clean. You’re a child of the risen God: forgiven, accepted, and loved. God has given you a purpose, and no one, not even the devil himself, can bring you down. That’s not theory; that’s the truth.

Down near Myrtle Beach. It’s been a while since I’ve been to North Carolina, South Carolina or Georgia.

That's a good ways from us, but our pastor's MIL has a house close to MB. We could stay there if we came over that way.

I wouldn't go out if it was too cold. My collection crew will take the extra trash without problem. Sometimes they charge extra, sometimes not. If I am sure I am really over, I call ahead. Then, the are sure to charge extra, but the good thing is the trash is gone and I don't have to worry about it. No need to be a slave to the weather when it is not necessary.

    Well.. lucked out, for sure.

About 7 or 8 years ago i drug home an old Toro 521 snow blower from the place i was workin at.
It had sat for i dont know how many years before i found it burried in the warehouse.
Owner said its yours, get it outta here.

I took it home.. Dad and i cleaned the carb and it fired right up on about the 4th or 5th pull. give or take.
Ran great and everything worked.. And then we/i never used it.
Drained the gas tank, ran it till the carb was dry and that was it.

Sure we had a few snows it could have been put to use on.. But it was always burried in the shed and we never prepared
ourselves to use it for that season.

Well, we got some snow folks. I dont know how much snow but we got a good few inches here.
Lastnight, Dad says, "Well i think its about done snowin, guessin i'll start shovelin".. I said nah Pops.. Letter rest.
Im gonna swing by in the morning and dig that snowblower out and see if it runs.
Well god dammit Bobby... I put gas in that sucker, checked the oil, and started yankin on the ol rope.
4th or 5th pull again and its running great.
So i took care of his drive, his neighbors drive, his mailbox area, his neighbors mailbox area, my drive
and 3 of my neighbors drives also.

    Im pooped..
Changed the oil, drained the gas tank, ran it until the carb was dry and its parked in his garage, waiting to go again.

Still snowing at a good clip. I don't know how much we got but it looks to be a lot. Just took Riley out and he was hopping from place to place. He is tall with long legs. My son will be busy with the snow removal. Glad we aren't getting the drifting like the last storm. People are still out driving around. (saw it on TV) none here, dead end road. State isn't working so that will cut the traffic down a heck of a lot. Stay safe. No heavy shoveling.

I have not put it out a few times (usually forgot to put it out or was stormy) and I can do that with no worries as there are no rules here on how much we can put out. I just don't like it sitting around and I am still capable of doing this.

this is I-95 this morning. I copied the pic from the electronic newspaper. Notice how the road is covered. Very dangerous to drive on. Need to staff off the roads until the storm passes and crews get to clean it up. All but along the immediate coast line are getting snow. I have friends on the islands. They loose their power frequently because of the ice they get more often than snow. Strange how just a few miles inland makes such a difference.
