So yesterday, Monday, YRC Freight had updated the tracking info for my wood stove and it said "delivered. "I called wife and asked her if it had arrived or maybe the truck just hadn't shown up yet. No big deal.
So I call YRC in Watertown SD, and they said since they don't deliver to residences, they passed it on to Rude Transportation.
So I call Rude, in Redfield, and they have no idea what I'm talking about. They have no info about me, the wood stove or any delivery for Hecla SD where I live.
Today, Tuesday, I called both companies and YRC says they don't have it anymore, and Rude still says they have no info on it and to try calling back tomorrow, Wednesday.
So I'm sure I will be making a 5 or 6 phone calls trying to track it down and figure out who has it, where it is, and when it is supposed to be here.
Sheesh, it's going to be about -10F tonight with -25 to -35 wind chills. The propane furnace is just humming away

Ugggg. That's horrible. Get on the phone. Talk to anyone on customer service that will pick up. If that person won't/ can't you, then ask for their manager. Escalate until you have satisfaction

I just googled, looks like RUDE could be 2.5 hours south of you. See if you could arrange a pickup for both the your Drolet and a trailer-full of that wood!

Who did you buy it through then? You might try calling them, see if they are willing to get involved at all (if so they might have more pull than an individual customer) that's who you will need to call anyways if you paid for a stove that nobody knows anything about...and don't forget if push comes to shove you can get your credit card company involved if you need to swing the big hammer.
    Rude Transport sounds appropriately named...

Ok, so with one phone call about 3:30pm today, when I finally had a break from working, I called Rude Transportation and they said that it arrived this morning. They knew everything about it, and said they can delivered it at about 10am tomorrow (Thursday).

All is well. It was just yesterday's unanswered questions that just flustered me.

Yep, I will probably make a short video of the unboxing/uncrating, and a bunch of pictures.

Started reading this post and thought Oh no!

Reminded me of a story. Back in the early 90's when Harley's were in high demand and the supply could not be kept up....

A buddy had ordered a custom painted heritage soft tail. Everything going fine until..........yup, same thing. Just disappeared! He ended up with a black one with no extra waiting that was a beautiful bike. Rode it for years with never a mention of the other bike again.

I think someone saw it and offered quite a bit more than it was worth in order to avoid the wait list.

Glad you're going to be busy installing your drolet. Don't forget to use that camera feature during the install since we're all along for this ride!

    Update...
So, it's here. Not at my house, but it's in my town. At the gas station. The delivery driver said he was afraid to use his lift gate as it was -15 last night and his truck sat outside all night and he traveled about 100 miles to get to my house....at 70 mph. He said it might go down, but not move back up, trapping him here.
So he asked if I knew anyone with a forklift/bobcat, anything to get it off his truck. So I had to start calling around to see who was available to give me and him a hand, even though I was 50 miles away at work.
I called the gas/service station here in town and they told the truck driver to just drive over to their shop and leave it there.
So, it's indoors in good hands. But, sheesh, trying to coordinate all that between my wife who was at home, the truck driver and my friends at the gas station gave me about 20 minutes of 10 different phone calls and a mountain of uncertainty.
After I was home,I called my friends house and asked if I could pick up the stove tomorrow after work, they said "no, problem."
So tomorrow I will probably chain it to the back of my kids pickup and drag it home. It's on a pallet and the roads in our town all have about an inch of hard packed snow, now ice on them.
I'm going to bed, I'm beat....
