Ugliness hides behind a painted face.

    Fair faces go places.

The face is a mask; look behind it.

A fair face may hide a foul heart.

A single fact is worth a ship-load of argument.

One fact is stronger than a dozen texts or pretexts.

One eye-witness is better than ten hearsays.

We see the failings of others but are blind to our own.

Not failure, but low aim is a crime.

    Listen to both sides.

A fox should not be on the jury at a goose’s trial.

    Turn about is fair play.

    One good turn deserves another.

If you don’t keep faith with man, you can’t keep faith with God.

It’s easier to lose faith than find it again.

Little men are men of little faith; big men have the faith to move mountains.

In the affairs of this world, men are saved, not by faith, but by the want of it.

The ship of him who confides in God founders not.

The higher you climb the greater will be your fall.

If you crawl, you can’t fall.

It’s easier to fall than to get on your feet.

The phrase "You are what you eat" is inaccurate. You are what you don't poop out.

Instead of buying your children the things you never had, you would do better to teach them things you weren’t taught. Material wears out but knowledge stays.

    You can’t guard against everything.

There are spots even on the sun.

Though a thing has been false a hundred years it cannot become true.

It is good to show respect to people even if they don’t deserve it. After all, respect is a reflection of your character, not theirs.

Better suffer for truth than prosper by falsehood.

Falsehood is a nettle that stings those who meddle with it.

    A false report rides fast.

Some have the fame and some live in shame.

    Familiarity breeds contempt.

I have lived too near the woods to be scared of owls.

Mistakes happen in the best regulated families.

Men with the smallest incomes have the largest families.

Every large family has at least one black sheep.

We as Christians are called to shed the light of God's love and gospel on this world, through the darkness of night.

The light we shine is like that of the moon. Bright as the moonlight is, the moon does not generate its own light but is the reflection of the sun's light.

If we reflect Christ's light as true Christians, we can change others and the world. Others need to see the Light through you, as you may be the only person they know who reflects His love.

Some families are like potatoes; all that is good of them are under ground.

In the spring a young man’s fancy turns to love.

Spring brings out in the men what the women have been waiting all winter for.

Geniuses have great imaginations but little fancy.

There is a wonderful, mystical law of nature that the three things we crave most in life—happiness, freedom, and peace of mind—are always attained by giving them to someone else.
