Putting the new MS661 and the old Kubota to work today cleaning up this dandy red oak that blew down a while ago. The main trunk was up off the ground so the wood looks like it was felled today. The butt flare was a little wider than my 36" bar, but the rest of the bucking cuts were 20-24". Did I need the MS661? No. Was it really nice to have it? YES!. I'm hoping the rot at the base doesn't go too far up. The other end o the butt log is perfectly clear, but you never know. Wish me luck.

Going to get some nice firewood out of that tree. Hope you post pictures when you mill the crotch.

Nice tree there. Good trial run for the new toy. Always fun to cut with more saw than you need.
Are you getting a 16" bar for it! ;)

I sure will, but don't hold your breath. I don't even have a mill yet and even less time.

Just the crotches. I've got several more oaks that need to come down for fencing. Will hire a portable bandsaw mill again for the straight lumber. You're welcome to come over and teach me how to mill slabs.
