Hard to say how much snow we got. Looked at the daily rag sheet which listed the town, just a mile down the hill at l.5 in. What a joke. We have one to two feet or more (drifts) They must have used a ruler on the windowsill. We are on a hillside and it did drift a lot. Even on the lean-to roof, we have one to two feet. That is a black steel roof so I am sure it wont be there for long.
Kids were out on their snow machines. Looks like a lot of fun.

Maybe you got all the stuff off my roof - it is nearly clean as a whistle and I won't have to worry about it dumping and causing me to have to hack and shovel. I know a gal on a hill just a couple miles from me (I'm in a valley - she is about 600' in elevation) who had to have a shovel party for her roof. Sometimes it is good to live in a wind funnel.

They have updated it from yesterday. Now says 16.5 in. The next town over is listed as 2 in. Can't be. Most everyone in this area got a foot and a half. I am glad my dog Riley has long legs. He can bolt through those drifts without issues. He has been out 4 times today so far. He'll be out a couple more times before his bed time. I stay outside with him.

Well, not there, but I don't think I would be too shy about it. One of the advantages of living in the woods out of sight. I won't try it if the grandkids and daughter in law are home unless it is dark out.

My preferred building supply store is opening a 4th location in one of several buildings formerly belonging to a chain which pulled out of NL. (They were owned by Lowe's and there's been rumors of a Lowe's opening here ever since, but nothing concrete yet)

looking forward to checking it out.

That looks like a fairly small footprint for a building supply store. We had a building supply store about that size once. It was orange and white. I can't remember the name. But when the big boys came to town, HD and Lowes, only a few of the small stores survived.

that's sad, but unfortunately can be the way of it.
I prefer a smaller store, you know, one you can't get lost in, but not so small that they're constantly ran out of stuff and have a very limited supply of what they do have. I find these guys are a good happy medium that way, although this will be their smallest location. It's in a rural neighborhood with some farms, technically part of the capital city but you'd never think it. Sure is nice to see the building used again.

We have one home Depot on the island, and a regional chain of similarly sized Stores with several stores in the capital metro area and a few in some of the other bigger towns. Still a lot of smaller stores in the small rural communities, a few fully independents but mainly one of 3 national chains, but they are buying groups made up of private businesses, not franchise or corporate owned.

Home Depot is occasionally a necessary evil, but I try to avoid it as much as possible. Often poor quality lumber and I'd rather support the local business. But they have a few products that you can't really get anywhere else.

Got my saw fixed. New cover and pull start installed. It's starting to become a Frankenstein monster with different era and manufactured parts . IMG_20220131_220324173.jpg
