Went up on a logging site and looks like i'm first on the site, for firewood. Good wood, Fir and Maple and its fairly easy to get to. Might go up tomorrow as well, then stay off the roads during the week. They are logging up the hill about 2 miles and they'll have lots of trucks on the road. Took the 261 just filed the chain this past week. Boy, what a SWEET SAW!! Man, that thing runs hard and fast, very fast. This one has a 18'' bar on it, and it really works great. I've got a 044 stihl and a couple of Husqvarna's in 266 XP and a 273 XP as well, but, the 261 is fast becoming the saw of choice. Also have a echo 590 its a dandy, might take that as a backup saw this next time. All in all it was a great day, little cool, but, that's perfect wood cutting weather, for me. Normally i cut it in the rain, but, its supposed to be cold, in the mid 20's in the morning but, 50's by around noon. PERFECT!!

Sounds like a good score. The more you use the 261 the more youll love it. My go to for the most part.
Cut safe in the rain/wet conditions!

PERMITS, and strictly enforced. the sheriff does a roving patrol and has caught people where they should not be, if they have some wood, its confiscated, and they are trespassed, could get a fine as well. If they are behind a locked gate, well, normally they let them wait it out, depending on the circumstances.

B Brown I can imagine that staying out of the log trucks way is a good idea. Some of the roads over there got alot of 8-12% grade in them, and the drivers get paid by load or BF so they in a hurry sometimes.

Went back up today, cut a load, then headed down the road. HEAVY LOAD! Maple and Doug Fir, boy, it really made the old tundra squat. But, i took it easy and nice and slow. Hit the highway then just cruised, pretty twisty state hwy, has a rumble strip ground in the double lines. Got it home, unloaded it, and by about 5 west coast time it started raining!! Hasn't slowed down that much as of now. Its all in the timing!! lol. I"ll head back up come next saturday again. maybe get 2 loads. Took the 590 echo ,i'm pretty impressed by it. Along with the Stihl 261 as backup.
