When the bucks just can't control themselves and run all day long. Definitely experiencing the first rut cycle right now. This buck was on tour, neck swollen and now resides in my shed. First buck I have taken with a drop tine, or in this case 3rd main beam. 158 lbs, pretty decent for NJ.
That's really cool....a rarity for sure. Did he come in to a rattle or scent? I know the bucks are fired up here, they've been chasing does in the field across from our house for several days now..... Going out Saturday morning.
I was in a climber with no attractants at all. Had a smaller 6 pt downwind from me in a different cornfield when this buck came out. He was moving at a typical walking pace, but not stopping. I stopped in a small opening with a mouth grunt and let'r fly. I try not to use words like perfect to often, but the shot was just that. Double lungs and tip of the heart. He went 25 yards, looked back in my direction and was down within 45 seconds.
Hell ya! Niiiiice buck my way! I leave tomorrow. Hope they are up and moving. My game cam crapped out so now hope is all I have as I dont have a particular deer in mind. Oh...igniter crapped out on my camper furnace too. More of a reason to be in the woods I guess.
Awsome buck! I got one this evening too but not near as nice as yours (needed meat in the freezer and only 2 days left in fall bow). Great job man! They're definately startin to get into the rut in my area as well. I shot a 150+lber two years ago, aint used to draggin them big boys outta the woods around here lol
They drag easier on the sand don't they? Season ending tomorrow was the main reason I pressed to get in the tree yesterday. Buck tag runs out regardless if you use it or not. Nice how the state figured out ways to get sportsman to pay up more money, aint' it?
Sand and leaves are the ticket! I took a half day from work today just to hunt and im glad i did. Sure is nice to have one hangin in the shop. Yeah they're just diggin deeper into our pockets with the "bonus buck tag" during permit bow
BTW, I have to say aloud, it is really nice to post pics of deer and talk of hunting/shooting with the brothers of FHC.
Very Nice buck, Ive never gotten a non-typical. Id say your lucky, but your not. You put in the time and effort and were nicely rewarded. Good for you!
