Apparently the two models have now divided and no longer are in agreement. One whacks us, the other stays out to sea.

Funny how this mysteriously changes as they gotta have plausible deniability no matter what happens

The P43 is between 0.5 & 1 when it is in single digits (depends upon wind and wind direction too). In negative digits, will go to 1.5.

P61a is set at 2 this time because I have the old okie golds in there and those are long pellets. If I had TSC (MWP) in there, I'd have it on 1.

    Hey B

Why use the feed rate to regulate in Stove temp mode? I tend to use a combo of the fan speed and stove temp dial.

    Just wondering about the difference.

All you New Englanders can have all you want. I really despise removing snow or should I say displacing it from one place to another via snowplow or snow thrower. It appears that you will get dumped on over the weekend but then weather forecasters are like politicians, they can be 100% wrong and still be right...lol

It's a 'balmy' 4 here this am with a -6 windchill. Time to go jump in the swimming pool but I imagine it would hurt as it's frozen solid.

Stove is chugging along, oblivious to what the outside temps are but wanting a steady diet of corn and pellets.

Couple months and all this will be a 'fond' memory.

SO... stove mode on 1, feed rate 1 or 2...
Would you be better off using a candle?

Using feed rate to control temp. If that works for you , have at , not judging ... not what the feed rate dial is designed to do .

So I’ve always wondered the same thing about how she chooses to run her stoves but have never chosen to challenge her…. She seems to know how to run her stoves and it clearly works for her. She’s been around long enough to know the recommended way (assumption on my part). Feed rate is a set it and forget it adjustment for the majority of us Harman owners.

I use the feed rate to help adjust the temp as well, have for a few years now. Didn't before Lori and I were retired but I find it works well to keep the stove outputting at a constant temp rather than having it drop into a maintenance burn then fire up again. The temp in the house stays steady using the feed rate with a good steady flame.

Besides if it didn't matter why have an adjustable rate dial? If Harman didn't want you f*cking with it make it a built in rate and eliminate the dial. It's there for some reason even if Harman won't come out and say why, otherwise just have a Test button and not a spot on the dial.

Harman doesn’t want you messing with it…it’s right in the manual. So your point is well taken.

Explains what seems to be frequent cleanings, for a Harman.

Today, Wunderground has cut the total more than half already here. Now showing a little over 5". It can go to zero and I would be A-OK with that !

Needed my tractor this morning to move some barrels....

    Poor thing would hardly run.....

I had used a "Safety" spout type jug to refill it several years ago....the safety spout slipped off the tank neck and stuffed the pre-strainer into the tank.

That strainer got lodged over the fuel outlet and blocked fuel flow.

Had to drain the tank.....and spend 5 hours fishing to get that strainer out of the tank.

That !@#$% IS FINALLY OUT.....reconnected the fuel hoses and replaced the filter while I was at it....

I hung that nasty strainer on a wire on a cabinet door in the shop to remind me of what an azz hole it was to get it out of the tank.

Getting the tank off the tractor is an even worse job I am told..

Drove Li'l Red around for 30 minutes to be sure all was well.......Good to go....

But no barrels got moved today.....

    Maybe tomorrow......

temp dial just over 6 (85), feed rate at what keeps the living room at 72-73*, and the bedrooms at 66-68*.

With the thermostat hooked up inline with the probe, the stove does not act as expected in stove mode - the room blower just shuts off and I do nothing but waste pellets regardless of the feed rate. Using the feed rate method also keeps the living room at 72-73* (instead of surging to 78* or higher during flame surges) and the back bedrooms at 66-68* - steadily. Remember, this is only during cold snaps - a large majority of the winter I let the thermostat handle things and the stove cycles on and off.

Too those who have less than complimentary things to say - I won't debate how I run my stoves with anyone - I've tried it all and am doing what works well for me and the way the dynamics in this house work. The manual says to set the feed rate as desired and once you know the feed rate setting that works well, use that setting. It does not mention any safety concerns.

I am not telling, anyone to run their stove like I do, or even advocating running this method. But do share my experiences. Please extend me the same courtesy and don't tell me how I'm "doing it wrong".

Generally I welcome a big Saturday storm that is done by Sunday morning for cleanup but with my left hand not doing well from the last heavy wet chit plus 2 fingers on right hand were crushed in car accident 30+ years ag, I can do without anything for a while longer. Pretty much resigned that my left hand is going to be in pain through rest of the winter

Oh, my area changed again-back up to almost 9". Likely Saturdays amounts will keep changing right through next Tuesday

If you are referring to me and I offended you in any way, you have my sincere apologies B. I tried to choose my words very carefully in my post but apparently failed. I’m sorry….:(
