He didn't fall asleep while he was here yesterday! I'd say he is doing just fine. Ha! Your name even came up in our conversation.

Public school teacher here...have 9 years left (not that I'm counting :) haha Every teacher I speak to says it doesn't feel like retirement until the first day of school rolls around again in the fall. So I guess I will carry on as usual on that first day - work on firewood, drink a few beers, hop in the pool (and will send pictures of that to the wife who will have 3.5 years of work left once I retire) Maybe I will end up pass out drunk by the time she gets home just so she doesn't expect too much from me during those 3.5 years. LOL

    You calling me a liar?

I know of at least a dozen people here who have retired and still come back on a voluntary basis just to lend a hand or to give some experiential expertise...may seem strange and geeky to you but when you are truly interested in your work and know it makes a difference to humankind, you get committed, it gives you an enormous sense of satisfaction.

    Congrats!

Retirement for me won't come for quite a while, but I keep thinking about the things I can do after I'm done with a daily job.

Doing something purely to help others in need is big for me. God gave me skills and a brain to be productive, so I don't see squandering my time at a golf course on my radar. :)

Same here...I'll be 68 before I can get my full retirement anyways...and if you think about it, the concept of retirement is not even in the Bible...I mean look at Noah, he was what, almost 500 YO when he started what ended up being a 100 year long boat project?! :jaw:

Agreed...although a 100 year boat build project us probably not on my radar (or should I say sonar) either. :)

I have anywhere between 5 and 25 years left before I can "retire" from working for "the man".

I don't see myself ever not working at something though...just need to figure out what that something is. I'm leaning towards Machine Shop / BBQ Pit / Sawmill / Carpentry business.

If i had to spend 360 days on an ark, I'd want a 100 years to get it ready also!

No Dave, I'm not calling you a liar. Pull your horns in already! You sure have been short fused the last couple of months.....

But, its a good thing that you enjoy your job so much.

What I am saying though, is if you feel that strongly about it, stop taking a paycheck right now. :handshake:

Not strange or geeky at all. I also was truly interested in my work and thought highly of my boss. But I sure as heck wasn't about to make a statement like working for free! BTW, I found out just what kind of person the boss really was. And his wife (corporate VP) was much worse! :D

I have just a few months. It is an odd feeling, but I am sure I will adjust fine. Will stay busy, and have a Monday and Friday lunch group know as the ROMEOs. Retired Old Men Eating Out.
