It's been a couple years since I bought a new saw, but today I picked up this beast. Did I need it? Of course not, I already have a ported MS461 that can handle anything in my woods. Did I want it and will it be awesome fun? Heck yeah!:dex: The 28" lite bar is currently on backorder, but no worries, I've got 32" and 36" bars already:D I plan to use the 28" as the primary for the 461.

You will love it! It's a beast! I have a 25" light on mine.

Mine was a first gen. 661 and had computer trouble that the 3 local dealers couldn't fix. I phoned the Stihl regional office in Cincinnati and the regional mgr. picked up the saw and kept it for about 3 weeks before getting it back to me with all new electronics and a new carb. Its been running perfect ever since.

Beautiful saw! You are going to love it! I just took my 660 out of storage and will be rebuilding the carb and checking the fuel hoses. It doesn't get run very often these days but when it does its a blast! Nothing like the sound of a large two stroke.

Congrats Mike. Ive never run one before. Biggest i have is the 500i at 79cc. Ive seen some decent ones on CL/FBM and considered buying one myself. Still thinking a 400 is my next.

Have you ever run a 500i?

I'd rather give it to Tree Monkey Scott Kunz to work his magic. The MS361 he did for me is a monster.

Not for anything Bill, but youve been cutting some behemoth oak yourself as of late, no?

What is the best practice for storing saws?
Hang them or tilt them in one direction or the other? Trying to plan a work space in the basement/garage.

Most of mine are on the floor under the bench. No wall room or shelf space in our storage room.
Ive seen them hung by the end of the handle, in "saw trees" which is a taller log with slots cut to accommodate bars. T.Jeff Veal has one.
Ive stored them on the side too as some saws "drool" bar oil after they been used.

    Beautiful saw! I also run my 461 with 28” bar. My 660 wears a 32”, haven’t had a need for a 36” yet, but I’ve wanted one.

I often wonder how my old 660 would compare to a new 661, I haven’t seen many comparisons?
