Woke to 78 inside. Left the draft open a little too much. Currently 28 out and flurries flying. Put a piece of several year old maple on the fire and a chunk of red oak.
In all fairness, where we used to live was at the bottom of a river valley and it was always colder there. I would leave for work in the mornings (heck, it was still night!) and drive less than 2 miles and the temps would be 10 degrees warmer!!
33, cloudy, and windy. Supposed to hit a bit of a cold snap and stay below freezing until the weekend after today. Got the boiler all cleaned out and tuned up over the weekend. Loaded up with some ash right now.

It's + 30°F Ambient at my house at the moment Which makes it what? 57 degrees WARMER in Deltana . And more than 60 degrees warmer in Delta Junction than it is at your house in New York. WOW
Dry aspen in the stove. I had 1 round and 1 split of white spruce in the stove last night that kept going for almost 10 hours. Granted it wasn't putting out tons of heat. But it kept the house comfortable with the warmer outside temps. I threw on 1 split and 1 round of dry aspen and it took off. Coffee water is almost hot enough. I'm working an economising thing where I don't start the generator in the morning. By doing that we are burning 6/10s gallon of gasoline in the generator per day. Makes for reasonable electrical costs.
Knee surgery went fine, roads were a little messy on the ride home. Cathy navigated just fine. 26 out now, just loaded some cherry and ash about 6 o'clock.
Heading to -12 tonight and tomorrow a high of 0, just about out of my red oak, tossed some basswood and maple in the OWB just a few mins ago and will fill with red oak when I do chores tonight.
We had another cold morning, it was - 22.9 , most weather sites had us getting a low of - 15 so I ran the pellet stove overnight, it was 65 in the bedroom and 67 in the living room. The basement was over 82 so I shut the pellet stove off and touched off the Lopi Liberty with some Sugar Maple and Ironwood.
10 F here at 8 PM. Flurries out there with 1-3” expected between now and morning. I’m burning down some coals and have smaller splits of Maple, Yellow Birch, and something that looks like Oak. IDK
Light snow and bottomed out for the night here at a mild 28 degrees. I’ve got a large split of hemlock sitting on a deep bed of various hardwood coals. Hopefully everything’s vaporized by 4:30 tomorrow morning.
21F here and still. Got another 4" of light snow. Really nice out again. Loaded Spruce in the boiler and Oak in the shop. Great winter weather!
I thought you might get more snow than that over there. About 3 1/2 inches here 20 °F out weather guessers say low 4 °F tonight running on coals 75 °F inside
