Yes. It comes with a 5/16” thick flat wheel. Takes about a minute to change. I tilt the head 10*, set the others at 0 and grind away

 

Yep, switch to the smaller wheel and make sure the wheel is dresses flat, unlike grinding the cutters. It's in the "destructions" someplace.

 

If it's like mine the cover guard was so tight I couldn't get the wheel 5/16 one in past the cover. So I took the bolts out and put a rivit backing washer between machine and cover and re installed the bolts. Pay attention the bolt with clear plastic housing is longer than other 1. This gave me enough room to get Bigwheel in.

 

Can you set the wheel to only come down so far? An adjustable "stop" so you just bring the wheel down to the stops on each raker to ensure they're all the same?

Sorry for all the questions - I'm sure its all in the instruction manual...just cant wait I guess! I'm going to load up some YouTube videos later too.

EDIT: Yes I see now what looks like a bolt back by where it pivots that can be adjusted as a stop.

Grind stihl chain RS26 60/30/10
Works perfect all 5 done
Next did the little stihl pole saw with 12" chain. First time doing semi chisel.
55/25/0 unbelievable how good it cuts now. Did 3 of them.
All my chains now are sharp done and tagged.
Time to put them back to work

 

May be asking advise soon. Grinder has been out of stock since may. Finally arrived today.

I had a horrible time with a pin wanting to come out with use. See included photos, screw driver is pointing at the pin. Easy fix is a few wraps of tape, large zip tie trimmed off or trim the deflector & use a small hose clamp. The pin is a real PIA to get back in if you don’t catch it before it gets too far out.

Slight problem with set-up. Depth screw was bent and non adjustable.
Was able to get it out. Don't know if I'll get a replacement or try to straighten this one or just make my own.

 

Wow. Wonder how that happened? Should be easy to replace with a bolt.

 

Just now getting around to using the first chains I sharpened, one saw worked really well and the other not so much. To be fair the second saw was a semi cheisel and the one log was a little rotten in the middle. Still learning.

 

I have a couple semi- chisel chains and they cut good after using the grinder. Have you taken the depth gauges down any? Of course, that chain doesn't cut as fast anyway.

 

I believe the rakers are about 25k+-.

Will double check them later.

 

I’ve found that I need to grind a little deeper to get enough hook on semi chisel to get it to feed better. More like a J shape than a C shape

 

Been experimenting with angles. Tried a couple of chains at 55 degree angle. Cut really well in the ash I was bucking. Does anyone else go that far?

 

I go to that black 55 on full chisel. And 50 on semichisel

 

Took a 1/2 bolt with a flange nut. To measure depth of rakers. Use feeler gauges to see what it is. After I figure out how much I need to come down I use the the feeler gauge of the difference under my wheel depth bolt adjustment. And grind away then I do the other side.
