Well, had about 2-3" of wind blown sn*w since about 4am here. At about 8am, the sleet started and is continuing as I type this. Fingers crossed that the freezing rain is minimal, or doesn't happen at all.
BUT, had my friend down the street who's a licensed electrician come over yesterday and get my generator plug installed. He wasn't 100% sure the 2 Predator Inverter 3500 watt gennys I have paralleled would run the heating system, since the a/c system is tied into it (even in the winter the 2 units "talk" to each other, and the stat gets it's outside temps from it). Finished up the install around 3PM, cleaned up all the tools, and did a test.
Success !!!!! Everything in the house was powered (except the elect. stove), and heat was on & running. :rootintootin::banana::dancer:

We checked the wattage output on the Predators, and they weren't even having to run hard. I am VERY impressed with them (and SOOO quiet). So, filled them up with ethanol-free gas, filled the 2-5 gal cans, and I guess I'm ready.

A rare time when you have more sn*w than us northern folk. I can almost see the grass again, But looks like we have 4 to 6(depending on which weather station/channel you visit).

A balmy 2ºF here this am, But at least the wind settled and the sun is out(for now).

Have a sweet potato cooking in the P43. Since it is on manual, might as well let it cook for me :D

Yep, I sure do. The truck is a 4x4, and came from NY originally, so the tires are pretty good.
There are a lot of transplants from cold states that live here now, but in general, the roads will be empty.....the place is basically shut-down.

Local neighborhood kids are already out at the playground & on 4 wheelers running around....they were so excited yesterday waiting for the sn*w! LOL

I can tell you how long it took the cold water laundry room supply line to freeze here w/ at or below zero temps: 3 days, sigh.

And this was with running an electric space heater out there 18 hrs/day (not ran when sleeping). Apparently not enough. :headbang: It's gonna be a busy morning. :picard:

It's now a warm 15* F here, that helps a little. Time to get busy. Have a good day all.

Yeah. No one to blame but myself for this one. * I see some water pipe "Heat Tape" in the immediate future.

Have the heat cranked inside the house, we're using a pedestal fan to direct the heat from the hallway -> into the laundry / mud room, and have moved the washer / dryer out from the wall.

Using the Heat Gun on low setting to warm the interior pipes, every 10 minutes. * Frost is melting off the windows in the mud room, so we're making progress. That part of the "crawl space / basement" is 18" from dirt to rafters under the laundry room, it's a PITA to get to that far corner: on a good day. Only want to make that trip, if absolutely necessary.

Gonna pull the inside dryer vent from the outside connection, give it a good cleaning, and run the dryer empty w/ the interior disconnected venting directed on those pipes / that wall next.

The portable digital thermometer I stuck out there shows a temp rise of 1 degree, in 20 minutes. The rooms were completely cold-soaked. ... It's gonna be awhile. We'll get there though.

Thank you for the birthday greetings. It was a bad weather day, so we just stayed home. Had a frozen dinner and a cup cake! some of my kids called to wish me well. The next week was my wife's birthday. I bought two large lobster rolls and some cheese cake. One of my daughters is having us over there tonight for a B day dinner. Thanks again.

Very late Birthday wishes to you, I think I remember what is was to turn 60. Hope you had a good day. It isn't the age that gets you old. It is the events along the way. Like getting a bad back, too much weight, injuries taking their toll, depression etc.

A lobster roll sounds real good right now. :chef: * Glad you had a good B' day Larry. I was off the forum for awhile. Belated B'Day greetings to all I missed.

The cold water line to the washer is cleared - the 1/2" copper pipe was plugged w/ ice inside the laundry room wall -> to the shutoff valve -> w/ the braided flex line to the washer -> and @ the mixing valve @ the back of the washer. I "may" have to rethink the heating strategy in the laundry room ... PDQ. :picard:

Have to pickup a GFCI outlet today to change-out the 30+ year old 120v outlet: and install the water pipe heat cable. With some "floor modifications" to run the cable under the house, etc. Thankfully (and surprisingly), the piping under the house wasn't the part that froze. (It was a real concern here this morning.)

Also going to install a wireless thermostat underneath in the crawlspace / in that area, to keep an eye on it going forward. Tomorrow. During a snow storm.

Time to clean up the 'trail of destruction' left throughout the house this am, grab some chow, and pickup some parts. Enjoy the Football games all. :coldone:

I finally googled that, lol I always assumed it was like an egg roll with lobster, not a hogie roll. Good luck with your pipes :)

One of my neighbors brother runs 4 "Lobster Dog" food trucks in NC. Not the cheapest, but delicious. Food trucks are BIG around here. One of the nearby towns has a food truck "festival" each year....around 25 food trucks all lined-up along the main street. Check out the menu....the "Free Bird" is one of my favorite.

We have a cod food truck that comes to town a couple times a month in good weather. I've had it twice since I moved here, also Yummm. They don't have a menu though, just one dish, fish and chips.

Those pictures look very inviting. Traditional hot dog roll serving. The ones I got last week were on a hoagie roll. two hands to hold it, so I cut it in half.
