Heading for a cold spell and it wasn’t that I was getting low but I figured why not. Still some white stuff so I had to keep loads light.
I cleared an area to make way for the chestnut oak I’ve been hoarding. All set for that.

Filled the well room up pretty good.

    Ended up being 1.2 cord.

So all in, I’m at 3.7 cord. If this lasts me, it’ll be the least amount I’ve used in a season. This England’s add-on is really paying off! Ive averaged about 6 per season since I started. When I know for sure, I’ll be able to guess how many years ahead I have c/s/s and staged to get split. I think I’ll be @ 5+ easy!

Lol, nothing near what your neck of the woods gets! And I'm ok w/ that. For a good 2 weeks the hacks are saying overnight lows are well below freezing. Winter has finally arrived! Now I can at least keep my stove glass clean.

Looking good Jason, nothing like sitting on a stockpile of heat. Getting colderish here too, might bail outta the shop for a few days & get the skidders going.

It pains me to know I have wood on the ground, but being so far ahead I just don’t need to touch it in these temps.
I plan to un-sticker stack the ash at the end of my stack, then I could lay pallet and extend another 50’ if necessary. :D

Oh but these are the temps for skidding, ground is hard, the machines don't sink & the snow makes a nice clean surface to skid on. No bugs, vines, or mud. Now is the time!

That need of moisture there is very common, eh?

Yes. High desert. We've been in drought conditions for years.

Right on. I remember what it is like out there. Enjoy it. Not much for mudding there.

I hear you on the mud. I've never dug anything in that deep. Mostly don't have the opportunity unless in the mountains during snowmelt. Dry is nice ... to a point.

The ruts never seem to go away. That's why I do it with frost in the ground.
