I am still thinking about a 1911 but I picked up a Beretta 92x Performance in 9mm. Wow, is that fun to shoot. I understand it to be Beretta's answer to the CZ shadow. It is very heavy but has very little recoil. Sights were a little off out of the factory but the groups were very tight. I did something right, my wife says she wants to go to the range with me...
with this on the record, i shoot about 12k roounds of centerfire handgun per year in competition.... least reliable guns, 2011's, 1911's, modified glocks.... unless your shooting competition or utting bleeding holes in people your will take a while to catch up on first hand experience.
Not a fan of black guns at all. Closest I have is a Ruger mini 14 accurized by ACI. Almost all my guns are long guns and most are custom builds. and I hand load everything I shoot except 22's and 17's.
So it sounds like you are the expert... mind answering a few questions? I have never had a mentor with guns and hunting and such, so I get to learn from you folks. Where do you see most people going wrong in their technique and how should people fix it? What are the patterns/techniques that should be most heavily practiced/focused on? Have you noticed that your thinking or approach has changed since you were an amateur? And yes, trigger time as much as one is able. Any other suggestions? If the 1911s are not reliable, what do you reach for?
I am interested in his comments as well. I must say my bone stock Series 70 Mark IV Colt is as reliable as an anvil. IF I stay away from reloads. But there are more accurate 1911’s out there. just sayin
Any recommendations for an IWB leather Beretta 92 holster? I don't want to spend a gazillion dollars but I also don't want something plastic or that will fall apart. I saw this one from DeSantis- is that brand any good? DeSantis Mad Max Tuckable Inside the Waistband Holster Left Hand 1911
I didn't click the link or look up that particular holster, but DeSantis is a good brand. The 92 is a right good sized pistola to be concealing IWB isn't it? I'm sure with the right equipment, clothing and body size/shape it can be done, but to me seems little large.
DeSantis is a quality brand. I like the Clinger holster that I have. Its IWB and quite comfortable. Sent from my SM-G930VL using Tapatalk
Actually... I am seeing that is more of a 1911 style. Beretta isn't on the list. Good to know that DeSantis makes good holsters though.
No sir, nothing that large. I'm carrying a Glock 43X. I was meaning that I really like the design of the IWB Clinger. Sent from my SM-G930VL using Tapatalk
Anyone touched up their pistol sights with paint to help with acquisition/ standout, or low light? I have a few tools that could use some help. I know I can go the bright fingernail polish method, but am wondering about the products that are made for sights, especially the ones that can provide help in low light/night (glow)..... And not really interested in replacing sights with aftermarket etc...
I have used the phosforescent type paint but it only glows after absorbing light and doesn't continue to glow very long. The only real thing that I've seen work in any and all conditions is the radioactive tritium that's used in actual night sights. Sent from my SM-G930VL using Tapatalk
Found a barely used P365 Sig that I could not resist. Have not shot it yet. Sent from my SM-G930VL using Tapatalk
Nice! The missus got the 365X with red dot the other day. Shot it a bunch again today to break it in. Shoots good, a bit snappy. I may get the xl. Amazing capacity in that size little mags.
Any recommendations for a 9mm, 1911 with a 3in barrel? I see the colt defender, s&w performance elite, Springfield ronin and a few others. I like the idea of the Springfield emp style but they won't take a standard 1911 mag...
Recently acquired pistol. I now have four of these High Standard.380 pistols. I bought one at online auction for a decent price and started learning more about them. after the I kept and eye out for them online. Occasionally, the description wasn’t very good, so it kept a low number of bidders, and most didn’t know the history. My best score end3d up being a three digit serial number. I suspect there’s will hit the one thousand dollars mark in a few years.
