Customer service pretty much is mediocre overall these days. Last Fri I was waiting for an Amazon delivery. Decided to run out and get some pizza. As I get to the end of our driveway (about 90 feet from the house) I see something sitting in the snowbank. It's the box from Amazon. WTF? The app says it's still out for delivery. Then an hour later the app says "delivered, handed directly to customer" ?!?! :picard:

After we eat, I call the Amazon CS number. Get "Alex" who sounds more like he's from/in India. I get multiple apologies, told I will get a call from someone within 24 hrs and for my trouble a $30 credit/gift on my Amazon account within 3-4 hrs. 7 days later I have received no call, there is no credit/gift on my account. I did complain thru Amazon's web site as well, got an email saying I should call the CS number:headbang:

Don't really care about the credit/gift, am more annoyed at the box being in the snowbank and the driver obviously lying about how it was delivered. But that attitude and effort seems the norm nowadays unfortunately.

We get that all the time.....I stopped using Amazon.....
Packages of value left out in the rain.
Packages crammed between the storm door and the inside door....storm door left open (Sign on door "DO NOT LEAVE PACKAGES BETWEEN DOORS"

Wind gets hold of the door and rips it to shreds ......New door this fall.....now junk.

UPS, FEDEX AND USPS ARE NO BETTER.

Drivers do not care....they can't read either...

A very valuable package left in the mud by the barn......

I would love to take a stick to these idiots

A couple years ago I had ordered a bunch of parts to upgrade my computer, were coming FedEx. On my way home I get a text notice saying it was delivered, left at front door. Go check when I get home, no package. Check back door porch, no box. Call FedEx, they say they will contact driver and get back to me. 20 min later they call say box was left at door. I say no it wasn't, they say they will have driver call me. 10 min later driver calls and finally admits she put the box in the back seat of the SUV in the driveway cause it was raining at the time. Lori's RAV is parked 10 feet from the back door porch, WHICH IS WHERE THEY ALWAYS PUT PACKAGES WHEN THERE IS BAD WEATHER.
Now for the good part. Lori had left before I got home to go visit friends in Fall River, MA. A 2 hr drive from home. She never noticed there was a box on the back seat cause I had loaded all her stuff in the Rav before I left. And as she and her friends left for a couple days after she got there I had to drive down and back to get my stuff.

My Dad always told us if you f*ck up just admit it, people accept honesty about what one does much better than if they find out you lied about it.

Heating tech arrived this morning and serviced both units.

I expected to hear trumpets announcing his arrival, but no.

Weather is looking good this morning for another shell run.

The outfit is still hooked up from Weds. run... (Too much extra work to unload and then reload the dumpster from the trailer for such a short layover)

Does not look as though the weather is going to be as lovely as we had Weds though.....

    Dry will do.
If this haul goes well we will be full up.....

Then tomorrow it will be time to run Munchy

I hate big companies. I hate that Amazon has taken over the world. That being said, we still get deliveries here. And as much as it hurts, I have to say all the drivers have been great. One night a couple weeks ago, 6:00-6:30, in a cold rain, I heard a noise on the front deck, and in the rain a driver was trying to put our package in a plastic bag. Every driver has been polite and friendly. Again, I hate to say anything good about giant corporations, but I'm going to give these men and women credit for doing a miserable job, the right way.

To try to protect packages from all the delivery companies (I don't have a roof over the front door here), I bought a plastic deck box and a pre-made sign that directs them all to put packages in it.....it even has all the delivery companies color logo's on it. It's right next to the front door. My directions in my account for Amazon are to put any packages that will fit in this box. I'd say that approx. 40% of the time, the packages are left on top, on the ground, or next to the garage door.
Maybe this is too hard to understand..... Screen Shot 2022-01-14 at 9.04.10 AM.png

My preferences,in descending order- UPS,FEDEX, USPS. USPS lost 5 packages last year(again).
o Amazon delivery, being rural, all comes from USPS, unless they hand it over to UPS or FEDEX, easy to tell from the multiple stickers.
The USPS needs to be privatized.

I don't have USPS here, but so fortunate to have great UPS and FedEx drivers, even when switch shifts around and it's a different driver. They come all the way to my house even if there's mud and snow in driveway, open my fake porch door and leave the packages inside (here the wind will pick up a package and take it to Nebraska). At the moment there's 2.5' drift of rock hard solid frozen snow infront of the door and that little FedEx gal just climbs up & over lol.

Up until a few months ago our mailperson was horrible. Delivered to wrong address, lost packages. A year ago a new driver they hired actually took down a few mailboxes on our street (ours included) by stopping way too close then catching the box on the truck snapping the posts. He only lasted 2 weeks.

Have almost 2 tons of the NWSDF I got 2 years ago, think they were $365 or $375/ton. $425 now. Fantastic heat, very little ash, save them for really frigid days which over the last 2 years we didn't have any. Have used 4 bags of them so far this winter, will use 2-3 more tonite thru Sun according to the forecast.

Of the 3 brands I currently have I rate the heat

    Wood & Sons--Good
    Vermont --Very Good
    NWSDF --Great

Right? 36 degrees right now feels warm compared to early this week and the upcoming weekend!

Actually was able to turn off the P68 last night and leave it off today. Will fire back up after work and stay running again.

Busy day here, another 22.5 gals. of off-road Diesel in the fuel tank, just under 1/2 now. Have been picking up (5) 4.5 gal cans per run @ the T-Bird local in town after dropping Betsy off for work in the am the past few weeks. Still suffering from the occasional dislodge of remnants from the garbage 'bunker fuel' oil the last oil Co. delivered, some 8 years ago. :headbang: Thankfully it's just cleaning the metal strainer on the furnace oil pump & the inlet valve every season, when doing annual filter & nozzle replacement at this point. Some carb cleaner & a quick brush gets the strainer cleaned up quick.

One of these days I'll get brave enough to order a 100 gal. delivery of off-road diesel for delivery. ... Still cheaper to pickup @ the gas station w/ the fuel savings discount card though. We'll see how the Dino Burner runs this season.

Got the Francesca stove and venting cleaned this morning, and did the 2nd burn pot mod - which is adding (4) extra air holes to either side & slightly above the igniter opening on the back of the pot: makes a huge difference in ash removal from the pot. Burn pot and door glass are staying clean, finally. ... Only took 6 years to figure that out. :loco:  Can't rush progress.

Francesca also got some extra love: I installed the new replacement vermiculite ( aka: "FireEx 600", sounds way cooler ) insulating panels in the burn chamber that I had ordered this fall. Some slight tuning on the combustion fan settings, and she's burning 'spiffy' at 1.6 lb/hr (setting 3 of 5) today.
    Tomorrow is "turning 'er up & dialing-in" the 1.8 & 2.0 lb/hr ( setting 4 & 5 ) feed rates. That's as high as we'll take this stove - at 2 lb/hr she's a tiny 'fire breathing Dragon'. :MM: ...
    * Anything more, the temp. differential between the vent stack probe vs. room air outlet @ the exchange tubes is too high ( > 120 F ), then it's just wasting pellets & throwing $$$ up the flue. )

Temps. are dropping here quickly, the wind is picking up: it's gonna be another 'cold one' the next few days. Have had too much fun 'playing' today :whistle:, time to 'get busy & pay the bills'. Lot's o' work on the plate for this evening.

    Stay warm all. :handshake:

You do know fuels can get microbes and algae in them? If you think you have an issue, pour in some Bio-Bor.

That's a great idea badbob - now that there's enough fuel in the tank: I'll pickup a 100 gal. treat bottle and add it w/ the next 'fuel run' next week.
