9* and no wind. Got out to the boiler a little early but it was still half full of hickory and cherry from yesterday afternoon.

I had 15 on the merc this morning. Wind is frigid! Added 3 shorts of red oak to the front of the firebox, which had a large mound of glowing coals in the back. Was 75 inside.

1.6* at 0735hrs, think it dropped a little lower, but what's a couple tenths of a degree amongst friends....

As for burning, Vermont Wood Pellets. Would rather it was wood, but can't get the wife to deal with that so pellets it is!

I like the way you are thinking. I was grilling on the 1st when it it was -20* with the wind chill here. I think the steaks taste better in the cold best of all no mosquitoes.

A few degrees colder than forecast (so far) . Have some nice well seasoned white oak for these temps.
A really big cloud went over this morning and dumped an inch or so of dry powder. Got out there with the leaf blower early for some of it. Then charged the blower's battery back up with a solar panel and a Jackery.

Currently 14 w/ wind chill @ 5. Just threw a split of shagbark in and opened up the draft. Hope to raise the temp from 75 before the nights load. Will be 50/50 shagbark hickory and oak.

19F. Mix of White Pine and White Spruce getting the job done. Couple days off now so I’ll burn up a bunch of softwood while I can be around to check on it every three or four hours.
