Wife and I are wanting a good pellet smoker. Any ideas? We want a good quality grill. I’ve seen some insulated which would be nice cause we grill all winter long. Also wondering if anyone ever has theirs blow out cause it’s a bit breezy where my grill sits. Any recommendations will be appreciated.

…. I’ve got a Green Mountain Grill. It’s been really good. Except for the igniter going out on me at Dennis’s GTG last spring. jtstromsburg has a couple of them to. Another one that is supposed to be really good for the $$ is Rec Tec. Shawn Curry had one should be a couple of threads with that on it. As far as blow outs? Can you block the wind at all?
I could try to do something. It will sit on a upstairs deck. It has vinyl railing. Thought about attaching a piece of plexiglass behind grill to railing.
I have the Rec Tec 700 (Bull), great machine. Has a ton of great reviews. Unfortunately they just had a price increase.
I’ve had three GMG’s and still have two. Like was said above, no real fear in wind blowing it out as it’s all fairly tightly enclosed. GMG or Traeger are most common names I’m sure, but if you can spend a bit more, I’d like a rec-tec, Yoder, or find a more locally made quality unit. For me that would be blaz’n grillwork’s. They’re more money though, but seem to be built better. all that said, I’ve had very few issues with any of my GMG’s for the 8 years I’ve used them.
I have owned the Englander one for several years now. It grills and bbqs do it’s been nice. Same company in Virginia made my nc30 wood stove. no fear of wind sniffing the fire but it will strip heat from the cooker so you need to compensate.
