Remember those tires that I bought a year ago?
It's time to have them mounted.

They were picked up today and should be back by Thursday.
Those sidewall cracks were getting scary but I did get another year out of them.

Might get a whopping 2-4":binoculars: tomorrow to try them out.
I need to unscrew the tire studs that are in the old tires and get them into these. They're not chains, but they work very well and are miles ahead of nothing.

Skidded out a few logs the loggers forgot this past summer (just below the Hemlock in the top pic). This is the first time with this winch on this tractor. I had cut the PTO shaft to fit an old tractor, and it was barely long enough for my first Kubota. Too short for this tractor, but TSC had what I needed.

The bigger pile is 12 cord they left as part of the Mrs’ work benefit (every employee gets 12 cord per year).
There is another pile of 15 logs hiding way up the steep slope. I will need to put the chains on if I go after them.

Some days go like this. Pulled the big log down and it swept up some smaller stems, which was nice, but then they all shifted downhill to this large magnet. The next big log I pulled down came neatly to the right, as I expected this one to.

Sometimes i wish i would have chose ag tires, but i was afraid they would be too hard on my trails.

That was a tough decision to make when I bought my tractor. I heard a couple stories of guys having to leave their tractors at the bottom of a hill cause their R-4 tires filled up with mud and they couldn’t climb it. My property it all hills so I went with ag tires. But, like you I worry about my trails getting rutted up and washed out so in reality I never get on them if it’s muddy. R4 tires would be nice for yard work though.

I do drive my tractor thru the "yard" sometimes. I have been stuck a couple times, but can usually get myself out with the logging winch pretty easy if i have to. I dont seem to have too many problems climbing hills, its more of low spots where there is no bottom that i get in trouble. I guess one bonus of R4s is that they can hold alot of fluid.

Below freezing temperatures and dry weather mean getting out to work in the forest. I'm working on thinning out several acres of our forest to create more browse for the sheep, a.k.a. silvopasture. FWIW, I will have a ridiculous amount of high quality harwood firewood logs for anyone who wants to stop by. Just PM me if you need wood.

That last pic sure looks like ashes from a smoldering fire, no?

    Generous offer on the wood!

She was ‘after work’. Cleared up the driveway for the second time. Still learning the snowblower. But it’s getting better.

Sold our ATV a while back. Hoping to find a used side by side. With a power dump bed. 95847EC3-2861-4230-8E01-676B8C68A350.jpeg
I just couldn’t see this older Kubota not have a good home. And I can’t be without a Bota for too long!

Thank you. I have been watching Craigslist and other equipment websites relentlessly. While on a quick break from a labor intensive job I am doing in barn I took another look on Craigslist. 06907377-02AB-4828-AC7E-CF41C2CBDD7C.jpeg Holy smokes! Called the guy right up. Is there anything wrong with the machine? No. I’ll buy it off of you today. Will you hold it for me? Don’t you want to come and look at it? No Sir. I am going to trust you. I don’t want to lose it. Okay. I will be there at dinner time with money and trailer.

2009 diesel with 355 hours on it. Hydraulic dump bed, cab has heat and A/C. Plow is only slightly used and he said he paid $5000 for it. Winch that goes into front or rear receiver. Stereo he put in, that I have now linked my phone to! (Holy chit!) Listening to my tunes Bluetooth. Hydraulics front and back. Tool box in back with some tow straps and other stuff I haven’t even looked at yet. I’ve been plowing with it but haven’t even had time to look it all over good and learn about it. Been busy with all this snow and a problem with our yard faucet in barn. So far it seems like a nice machine.

Oh. And he said he had a turbo installed on it. It pushes snow very well!
