Got in a load of standing dead oak ready to burn. Processed it and got tidied up before we got 5 inches of snow last night.

Some good stuff there Greg! Wont be long now for the Spring splitathon. :axe:

I played beat the snow with deliveries yesterday. Our forecasted 3-5" turned into about 10" here in Southern CT. IMG_0137.JPG

First thing I noticed was the pavement. And the white stripe. Wondering is this this man's driveway? Then why would he have a white stripe? Pondering, came up with... you get quite a bit of snow there, so, it could be a signal that you are near the edge if you are plowing? That's all I can come up with, lol.

I almost missed the attached pic that is not in the post body. So, curious, how much wood is under roof, looks like a lot. Is that a boiler? How does that work? Does it pipe hot water into your house? Lastly, can't tell by pic but is your shop on the same asphalt or does it have concrete? Made me wonder if someone can just put a bunch of asphalt down and then build a shop on top. Whatever you got, looks great.

Here are few pics, though now with snow. The lean to is 32 feet long and 8 feet deep and stack it 7.5 feet high. It holds 15 cords max. Same deal on other side but is used to keep splitter and gear. The main building I keep my truck and larger trailer and saws etc…

It is a boiler and heats water to be sent underground to house, to then power 4 radiant zones, domestic hot water coil, and coil in the third floor air handler which does not have radiant

The white line is just a glare. The pavement was added later and that is the rubber sealer seam you are seeing

The pole barn itself was built on shale gained from the house foundation and rolled to make pad first, then paved. I left the inside of the pole barn gravel floor for oil and various leaks, and is use my heated wood shop for tinkering

The logs under the tarp are cherry and basswood for bowls and such

And the brick like thing is the heat exchanger, which works like a pair of radiators, transferring heat from heated water from boiler, not pressurized, with water from the house that is under pressure. So the boiler is heating the same water over and over and it doesn’t mix with house water

I love our radiant heat and wood boiler. I just finished washing the salt and crap off of my pickup and tractor, pure hot water by firewood is a guilt free pleasure.
It's going to get a workout Tuesday with the highs not reaching 0!

Looks like someone needs to be an engineer to use that thing. That is a lot of plumbing and mixing valves. Some great pics there Greg.

Boiler manifolds and plumbing are like that when you have many zones.
