What do you guys think about kimber? It seems some people love them and other reviews say they are poor quality. I saw another company bul armor. It looks like they make good guns but they aren't an American company...
Bul armory makes a VERY nice 1911. As a guy that competes with 1911's be carefull not to fall into the traps. 1. A "tight" 1911 is actually an unreliable 1911. Kimber builds a fairly tight gun whick i dont trust for defense. Great hole punchers though. 2. The 1911 design is over 100 years old. The bugs have been worked out and american companies dont have a monopoly on building good ones. Springfields guns are built in brazil.... and are considered by many to be the standard. I have a friend Noel Zarza who is sponsored by EAA Girsan. He has a 1911 named for him. Its the MC 1911 NOEL. Pretty impressive value, dead reliable, accurate and affordable. Girsan MC1911 Noel - EAA Corp.
That looks like a nice gun for the $, the EAA NOEL. What are your and anyone else's thoughts on a S&W 4506-1?
Yep. Great trigger, shoots very good. Would love to carry it since it shoots so good, but it's pretty much a house/truck gun...
I just came across this video and got a kick out of it. Cheers to our UK brethren keeping the spirit alive.
I never saw this thread. But I bought a new 4506 in 2000 It was very accurate and unlike most anything else at the time It was reliable with all types of ammo. I liked it but the 8th round tended to Pop out when I went to load the pistol. Both mags did this So I ran 7 rounds. It was a big heavy pistol with da/sa That wasn't that great The guy I sold it to put heavier springs in it And ran .45 super to deer hunt with He was still using it a few years ago when I talked to him.
I went and shot it the other day. It's a pretty nice gun. Pretty fun to shoot as well with a nice trigger. I just need more time with it. So it can take 45 super??
Yes with spring changes he ran a 24# Recoil I believe and a increased firing pin spring. Same dimensions as .45 acp so same barrel But the .45 super has a much thicker case Head so they wouldn't blow out They are impressive. Pretty much 300 fps faster than a regular .45 acp
I find the opposite to be true. In fact my carry gun is a full size Kimber Crimson Carry ultra with a Max Bayer main spring installed and it's as reliable as a rock. You usually get what you pay for, least in my view you do.
I really have to say that the only guns I punch holes in targets with are small caliber ones and when I sight in one of my hunting guns, practice or shoot small bore comp. Other than that they are all gonna be used for one purpose. Punching holes in things that bleed. You fill in the space.
Just order another 1000 .223 OFMB cases from Capital Brass (in route) and 1000 55 grain Hornday spire point fmj's from Arm and Ally which are already here. Brass should arrive tomorrow. I have at least 2000 loaded already, another 1000 won't hurt. Keeps me busy in the winter.
A Colt Frontier Scout Colorado Gold Rush has joined my Montana. Son gets the Montana grandson gets the Colorado. Tomorrow I get to look see inspect a Smith and Wesson Model 65-3 357 3 inch. Always wanted one and the guys price is reasonable. Wish me luck it’s only money
Look at 2 items carefully. See if there is any flame cutting above the forcing cone where the top strap meets the frame and if you can, inspect the barrel for heat checking or land erosion. I always have my Hawkeye Borescope with me when I'm looking at a used revolver, especially a larger caliber. That borescope has saved me a ton of money on used gun purchases. You can also buy an imported endoscope off Amazon and plug it into your cell phone and do the same thing for cheap. Think they are less than 15 bucks on there.
Both Colts were unfired. And the Smith 65-3 .357 followed me home. Round butt grips, three inch bbl, fixed sights. Perfect for me. unfired
