So the neighbor is logging some of his 80 acres. The logger (a tough ol one man show) is using a corner of my property as his “landing”. The other week he asked me if I wanted any of the stumps/cut wood that they couldn’t use. Guess what I said.. He said he’d bring up what he could in the voids of the forwarder on his trips up. Here’s what’s there is so far. Hopefully there isn’t much more down there..
Based on the sun angle from your shadow in the picture, I figured you had enough time to get it done before sundown.
True. Either that, or accuse you of living at the South Pole where the sunset can be a couple months long now.
That should keep you busy and your stacks full for awhile! What’s the species of wood? Can’t beat straight logs dropped right off!
Mostly oak and hard maple. They were taking out some basswood too, he asked me if I wanted that brought up too, I'm glad I said no thanks to that. There's PLENTY there already to keep me busy. Does a LOT, or more than I really need, count as an answer?? To be honest, I'm not real sure yet. I'll have my work cut out for me on that pile, but I'm very grateful for it. Some of the bigger gnarlier stuff I may ask my neighbor with an OWB if he'd want some.
Yep, that's the plan. Hopefully I can get a bunch of it done before/if the snow finally decides to start falling this winter.. No doubt and more than I expected. I had an older 16' ag gate sitting back there that he inquired on buying from me, I said just take it. Said it was the least I could do for him hauling the wood up. He tried forcing me some cash for it, I just laughed and walked away.
