Here’s a news report from yesterday, specifically regarding wood heat.

California has been talking about similar legislation at least in regards to small engines. I would think wood burning would be on the decline as a whole across America. Burning wood as a heat source involves work and I just don't see people as a whole in this country putting in the work.

It’s ok to burn joints but not firewood?

It won’t be difficult at all to get the votes needed to ban it, at least in the timeframe they’re talking about. Start working on kids when they’re in grade school, and by the time they reach the ripe age of 18 they’re devoted zealots. At least that’s what history has shown us

As for the NY ban, cuomo had the bill in 2019 but it was shelved .the new cuomo replacement is in my opinion no better that he was! I am concerned as firewood is a big sources of my income. Just another glimpse of where our country is headed and could go!

I’d recommend to NY residents to write to your reps and senators. One urban island should not control the law of the rest of the state. Even if it’s a click bait trigger let your elected officials know how you feel and it will never leave the shelf.
As far as I’m concerned, as long as Duke Energy is burning coal and dumping ash they can stfu about wood. Don’t even get me started on DuPont and 3M. Now returning my focus to chainsaws and wood.

At least until they figure out how to tax the firewood...joints only became ok after they figured out they could make some money from it...

They need to control the emissions on joints. Maybe catalytic converters or epa reburner tubes on them to burn the smoke.

They need to control the emissions on those electronic cigs! Sometimes there's so much smoke rolling out the cracked car window that I'm looking for the fire!

Yes, the wood Natzi's ABSOLUTELY ARE coming to take our wood-stoves!

Don't believe me? Here is a link to Lane Regional Air Protection Authority, here in Oregon, of all places! More specifically, in Lane County Oregon.

First they get "authority" over air quality rules.
Then they get "Advisory Status" - this is to get you used to doing what you are told.
Then on days there is a ban on wood burning stoves they can fine you.

Here is the link to "Wood Heating Curtailment Program Enforcement" .pdf where they authorized themselves to set up the fines.
    1. Class 1 violation - $ 50
    2. Class 2 violation - $100
    3. Class 3 violation - $200
    4. Class 4 violation - $400

Green advisories mean that air quality is clear enough for you to use your woodstove or fireplace. However, there is a limit to how much visible smoke you can produce. It is illegal to have thick smoke coming from your chimney stack. You want your smoke to be barely visible and as light as possible. You can get fined for having smoke that is more than 40% opacity in Eugene and Springfield and more than 20% opacity in the city of Oakridge. See the description and examples of opacity below.

Yellow advisories are cautionary warnings about air quality. It is predicting conditions to be stagnant, meaning that smoke may not ventilate well in our area. This can create health issues for you, your family, and your neighbors. While it is still legal to use your woodstove or fireplace, we strongly encourage people to use other forms of heat like electric, propane, or natural gas. The opacity standards still apply during the yellow advisories.

Red advisories mean that smoke from wood burning is banned. There are only a handful of days in the year when red advisories are issued. However, it is critical to comply with the smoke ban at this time because it means the air quality is so poor that it can have major adverse health effects on you, your family, and your neighbors. You may only use your woodstove or fireplace during a red advisory IF you have an approved exemption letter from LRAPA OR can produce a fire without any visible smoke. You can apply for a financial need-based exemption letter here. Residents who burn during a red day are subject to fines ranging from $100 to up to several thousand dollars.

Look, don't blame the messenger!
I wrote this three f'ing times and took out all the expletives but my paper was blank afterwards!!!:hair: This is also the kind of crap that has half the state ready to join Idaho!

In Oregon. Doesn't surprise me at all. I've heard about the eastern half of Oregon wanting to be part of Idaho for a while now. How much traction do you think it has?
