Tree service guy texted he had some hickory. Three trailer loads later here is the result. Unfortunately the old truckers trailer hitch has seen better days and cracked so a couple more loads had to be left behind. :hair: Minus the cookies I get from the tree service he’s been good to me this year. :D

    Happy New Years!:dex:

He certainly has been good to you. Think of all the work you didn't have to do, like felling and limbing and dealing with the branches.
I hate dealing with branches, that's got to be the worst part of all in wood gathering. It's demeaning that you have to spend one second with them and not get anything at all out of them except ripped up arms and hands and maybe your eyeball bouncing up and down on the end of one of them after it gouges it out of your eye socket.
Branches are the turd in the punch bowl of wood gathering. Period.

wow..I'd love a load of hickory like that!!

I'd split it, season it, and use it in a pit smoker lol

Around here tree guys won't give up hickory or cherry for that reason. They want an arm and a leg for the logs.

    Bummer.
Seems like a good reason to buy better equipment though.

Sound like you had a harrowing experience as a child. Let it out! Then the healing can begin.

It’s been on my list, now I have no choice. The classic Silverado’s are known for the trailer hitches rusting away. Of course it has been overloaded with tongue weight who knows how many times so it owes me nothing.

Big enough to get in the way. He’s 12 so capable but honestly it’s my peaceful time. :D He runs the splitter on occasion but I don’t get too much production out of him.
