I read your post too quick AC. Thought it said "is it broke yet"  You know how us Stihl guys like to tease about "the other brand" of saw.

I cut up a few trailer loads today with the new saw and it’s awesome. Really screams compared to my old ms290. C71B82A5-935A-4778-91D9-6F7B27347D46.jpeg

Nice! I replaced my 290 with a Stihl MS261 which i understand is the equivalent to your 550. Had a chance to make a couple cuts with a 550 a year ago. Tree service guy let me try his. IMG_3806.JPG

I bought mine a few years ago. Have had a couple issues…mostly user error.

Otherwise, it’s a great saw. I used it on some dead ash the other day and it cut through it like butter.

I picked up the 550XPG last year, still in the stupid box but it got cold out and I may cut some wood this weekend so a good time to try the heated grips out. Glad you are liking the saw and never saw a trailer with such straight wood in it before. We're lucky to get two straight pieces out of an entire tree here.

Is the grip always heated while in use or can it be turned off?

It’s the same 70 miles west of you. That was my first thought about all the straight grained wood. That would sure speed things up. I think the longest straight pieces I see are 5’ and that’s usually a huge trunk full of nails :picard::headbang:

Nice, Good for you. Should be able to do a lot of firewood cutting with that. Stay safe and have an enjoyable time with that new saw.

Nothing on the immediate horizon, but always keeping an eye out. I had a possible lead back towards your part of the world, but haven’t heard anything about it lately.
