Turkey is in the oven, and I am still in pajamas. Just like I planned. We are having an ice storm, so I'm even more glad to not be going anywhere.
We had lobsters today for dinner. We also had 2” of snow which was very nice, first time I’ve had snow on Xmas day! It was a nice day overall, very relaxing. Merry Christmas
A family member went for a walk yesterday and was buzzed by a mosquoito! She couldn't believe it! I think it may have been wearing long johns though; it was only 37!!!
Yesterday was ham dinner. Today was N Y strip steaks on the grill. Prime rib/shrimp waiting in the fridge for a date....
Didn't manage to get our Christmas tree up this year. Wanted to, but so many things that need to be done and my energy level is at an all time low. Lots of knee pain and shortness of breath. Did enjoy the trees at my son's home last night and then at my daughter's home this evening. Nice meals at both events. I consider myself to be a very lucky man.
Don't sweat the tree, that's a legitimate excuse, I haven't put one up for years cause of the cats and it's just kind of a waste Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
I'm so sorry Larry. We used artificial mini trees twice since we moved here, they're like 18" high. Not what we're used to but the idea and feeling it gave worked just fine.
Nice day at the woods. Tried my promise to myself to fish. Way too windy for it, so we headed back to find my brother decided to just visit us, rather than be ignored by his “in-laws” at their gathering. He and I inspected the trees which have been marked. ended up with going to local theater and watched the Spider-Man movie. Not a fan of the franchise.
I never got out of my pajamas all day, which was my #1 goal. Another relaxing day on deck again. My only plans are I need to go to the store to get bread so I can make turkey sandwiches.
There is a married couple that are like parents to my wife and I. They are in their 70's. We cooked Christmas dinner at our place, packed it all up in those insulated casserole take along deals and took it to their house to eat. It was a good time.
You too, and ours was white despite the dryest mildest winter I've ever seen here . savemoney , I have a little purple tinsle prelit tree I could send you, pm me your address
Thanks Heidi. I could have had one like that, but I really like the balsam fir. I had one just outside the door to put up but never reached a point where I was ready. Overwhelmed by wrappings and Totes of presents that took up all our space. I have a huge amount of decorations all boxed up. Even a Victorian village. My goal now is to give it all away to my kids and grandkids. Somethings will bring back memories. I have wooden boxes of fragile German made glass ornaments, complete sets. My daughters have expressed an interest in. Once we got the cats, I never unboxed them again. Funny thing is that the cats have never shown any interest in the trees or the village. I also have a box of pewter picture frame ornaments that each hold a picture of our family members, present and departed. I liked put those up with oldest members at the top of the tree. I then called it our family Christmas tree. Gave my tree real meaning. I'll try again next year if the Lord allows.
I hear you Larry, a bit different situation here with the same outcome. Maybe next year your grandkids could get the pewter picture ornaments and you could hang them on a strip of garland or something.
Winter has a way of looking frozen in time. Seem to be in a frozen rain cycle now. As it gets colder, and it will, there will be more snow than ice. That will go on for a least the month of Jan. Might last into Feb.
