So my Timberwolf TWP1 has been a great splitter but has some things I didn’t like.
First is too low. Though I had ran it up on ramps and that worked, it was also a bit of work to move it from place to place around my land.

So first thing is raising it. I went to my scrap yard and found a piece of square tube and started making a spacer block.

    More to come.

Other than upgrading to a Honda engine, I installed a jack at the front with a wheel to make it easier to move around in the garage. That sucker is heavy!
Or maybe I'm just getting older.

I hear you. That’s next on the list. I needed to get the rear height set then put the front jack on like you describe.

We are lucky to have 2 splitters. The vertical is about 22 yrs old. We built a platform from 1 1/2" pipe and 2" angle iron. Really helps with big rounds. Slides easier onto the splitter foot. 0720202018.jpg
The TSC 30 ton we leave horizontal, it's 3x faster. We have done several improvements to it.
Added angle iron braces to the table supports 0405201415_HDR.jpg
Then added support legs under the table 0405201515.jpg
Added 2 - 2×10×8 boards for ramps and a center support on the ramps 0408201035.jpg
Then we added some flat bar to the foot, so the wedge will go through the round, really helps with stringy woods 1120211021b.jpg
Long bolts hold it on, added a U-bolt on the end 1016201941_HDR.jpg
Makes a nice holder for the camp axe 1120211022.jpg

Right on. That is usually the first thing one needs to do.

Good one Jeff. I seem to spend countless hours bending over and picking up the hatchet or the pickaroon that vibrates off and falls from where I laid them.
And I plan on incorporating a cupholder!

I made a slip on piece to allow the wedge to go completely thru a stringy piece of wood. I only have one splitter and this one just lifts off easily if I have to run the splitter vertically.

The log lift is a simple cable and pulley from wedge to log cradle.
On the red splitter the cylinder is in the operating position.
On the black splitter the cylinder is in the travel position.

I installed the wheeled jack shortly after I got mine. Love the seat for vertical splitting!

Backwoods Savage has the patent on the milk crate seat and that's where I got the idea from.
But he's a very generous man and will let anyone copy it without financial gain.

Just giving credit where credit is due
