Fiskars Power Stroke Pole Saw

I've had this guy since I moved in here 15 years ago.

Just got a replacement blade and blade clip (holds the blade to the extendable aluminum shaft) and went to trim a few branches just now........

And lo and behold the shaft snapped right where there is a notch for it to prevent it from retracting further into the fiberglass portion of the handle.

So now I've sent a second email to Fiskars asking for a replacement saw.

 

This is the best pole saw I’ve ever used if you want to splurge on a great tool.

 

Best pole saw I ever bought was a Harbor Freight corded 110 volt one with a 6" chainsaw head with Oregon chain and bar, on sale for 45 clams. I put my portable genny in the back of the side by side and use an extension cord and trim away. Only issue is the smallish bar oil tank which needs to be filled often but work wise, lots easier than pushing and pulling a manual pole saw. I'm basically lazy and inherently cheap.

I have the Dewalt 20v pole saw. Had the batteries already so just bought the bare tool.

 

They emailed me and said they are sending me a brand new pole saw. Yee haw! Haven't gotten it yet. But I imagine it's a complete saw. Kudos to Fiskars for their warranty. On a related note, Gerbers is owned by Fiskars and they also have a lifetime warranty on all their plumbing fixtures. I know this as I had them replace a slop sink faucet under warranty for free. I didn't even install the faucet as it was already here when we bought the house 15 years ago but they still replaced it no problem.

 

I have very mixed results with DeWalt cordless power tools. Especially their over priced batteries. I've roasted 3 DeWalt hammer drills already and countless batteries won't charge anymore. I switched to Bauer 20 volt cordless for 1/4 the cost and have yet to roast one and their Li-Ion battery packs are less than 50% of the DeWalt cost. I'm cheap but I still like to not smell the stink of a roasting drill motor. Interestingly, the DeWalt motors smell like the cheap HF corded stuff. They also must use rice paper in the windings....lol

 

Got a brand new saw in the mail last night. Woo hoo!

 

Its good to hear Fiskars is honoring their warranty!! And, doing it in a timely manner.

 

Kind of surprised that Ford Motor hasn't taken Fiskars to task over the name Power Stroke which is a registered trademark of Ford Motor Company. That is a trade dress violation if there was ever one. I don't care but I am surprised. Most registered trade marks / names are pretty well protected.
