Awesome. I would Love to have some dry oak to throw in my stove when it gets Cold. !

My neighbor got a new Blaze King last winter. I guess it's rated for 2300 sq ft or something. Anyway, he says that with a load of dry spruce, he gets 12 hour burn times heating about 1500 sq ft. I don't have that much sq ft to heat. But I Sure would like a 12 hour burn time.

 

45 out, 74 in. Just packed the firebox with chestnut oak. Finally getting below 30 tomorrow night. Saws are ready, heading back to the honey hole in the am.

 

28 NH blend in the box. The 4-8 inch prediction amounted to an inch of crust. Lame!

 

You need 12 hour burns in your life! When it gets down below 0F I switch to 8 hour burns to keep the bedrooms upstairs warm. Usually, I fill it at 6ish AM then again at 6-7PM. I cant imagine having to set an alarm to get up and reload the stove like some do. The way I sleep it would be disastrous for me.

-12c/10f here this morning under patchy cloud. We had a good dump of snow over the last few days with multiple snow clearing events. The snow is definitely adding up outside. Wont be long now that driving in the bush will be impossible. Larch and doug fir in the box.

 

Ill keep my fingers crossed that you get a white Christmas! Ive been in the Rockies since 98 and dont remember a Christmas that we didnt have a white one but there was one year that it almost happened.

 

18 out, just filled the OWB with maple and oak for the day.

 

It got down to the upper 20's last night. I had to go searching for Hayden from about 11:30 pm - 12:37 am . Found him, safe too. He got across the road into the neighbors yard. The tie out line broke. I'll be fixing that today. He's a moose. I'll need to use steel cable.

He was scared, but once he saw Papa and recognized my truck he came running to me. We had his Christmas collar on and it has like 6 jingle bells on it. Once I knew he wasn't in adjacent yards, I got in my truck and went searching. I saw a lot of deer bedded down in yards. Then saw a deer go across the road toward our house. Went over in that direction, figured there was a reason the deer was moving and got out of the truck and called him, and listened for jingle bells and or barking. A few attempts like that in different parts of the neighborhood and I heard a bell jingle, then I called him. He came running to me. Tail tucked in a little. But totally unscathed. Hopefully he learned his lesson. From the other day.. And said Christmas collar...

 

Glad hes safe. Its an uneasy feeling knowing your fur baby is out loose and in harms way. When our husky wasn't elderly she would escape like huskies do. We spent many hours looking for her and once on Christmas eve as well. Looks like the Christmas bells were a helpful searching tool!

 

Yeah, especially with 2020 being so unkind to our family regarding our dogs.

Those bells really helped, but I knew he'd bark if he was stuck or couldn't get home. He's pretty vocal, but definitely those bells helped, along with a quiet night and nearly no cars.

GPS dog collar, and ideally a fence for our yard are things in looking to do this year. Normally we don't let him out on the line late at night. But he wanted to chew on wood, and that doesn't fly in the house. The antler he usually loves chewing on wasn't doing the truck last night. Typically he just watches deer and other critters and just sits watching them. Not last night. He's tired though, and snuggly on the couch next to me in front of the fire.

Its my old girls 14th birthday today so I should go get her from the kennel and give her some treats.
