I just read justdraftn thread, "One man's trash" and it made me think about some of the things we find while splitting wood. We have gotten several trees with some really curly grain. We have a friend down here that has started making pens and knives. This is some we got last fall This is just 2 of the pens he has made. He has given us a couple and made several more that we gave to friends. This last load of wood we just split had plenty of figured grain. Wish I could have saved it all.... I did save some more for him. He is gonna get it today. This was a short piece Nice little pile I noodled some crotch pieces, amazing how pretty this willow oak is... This should be a nice piece I wish it didn't cost so much to ship it. I know some talented members here that could make some things of beauty from it...

USPS may be a bit cheaper but I didn’t want to haul the boxes into the post office for weighing & cost estimate. I got online & checked UPS was the best scenario for me. If a person/business has a UPS or FedEx account shipping will be reduced.
Square those pieces up and start selling blanks! I made a jig/sled to clamp pieces to cut on the bandsaw.
I have run into some of that wavy wood before and thougt to myself "wonder what could be done with this?" Have always wanted to dabble in woodworking....where the time would come from who knows. The Wood Wolverine, do you sell blanks to an individual, or to a woodworking company/supply?
I have not. But I do have a huge supply for myself. Plan was to make a couple segmented projects. Just haven't found that time you speak of. If you catch a glimpse of it, let him know I'm in need. But, properly end sealed and dried, you could potentially be looking at a good profit, especially considering that beautiful grain posted above! This firewood was given to me by a coworker. He walked past "see what you can do with this" and threw it in my van. I made a bowl and gave it back to him. Then he called me a few weeks later and said he was dropping off more wood...

Beautiful bowl and pens. I have a lot of black walnut, that I wish I was talented enough to make something with, other than fire. T.Jeff Veal, the pictures of your oak with the orange inner bark reminds me of Black Oak that I cut last year. But none of it had any grain like what you have.
I cut a short limb off a white oak log we got recently. It had some nice spalting in it. Could some of y'all make something from it? Does anyone want it?
Spalting is awesome but there's a line between stable and rot. How you stop it from getting soft I dew knot no. A lot of times when I see it, the wood is too light to use for anything except fire, unfortunately.
