I was at camp last week and figured it would make a good thread. Ive had mine for 23 years now and enjoy every second spent there. Who else has one? Would love to see them and hear the stories.
Built by myself and uncle on property my grandparents left to me. Surrounded by other family members on a dead end road. My favorite place to be.
Nice looking place. I wish I had a place in the woods to escape to. Multiple trips to the White mtns each year, will have to suffice. Enjoy them!!
When I was building the place a coworker asked me what I did there with no power or running water. I told him if you have to ask you wouldn’t understand.
The piece that I have the title for Is 40 acres. With my extended family we have 498 in one chunk. That abuts a land trust that is 6800 acres. I don’t necessarily agree with their mission but at least there won’t be any houses going up. We are pretty lucky Grammy scrimped and saved to buy the property in the 60’s.
This one was my wife’s dads camp that we inherited. In the process of getting everything all cleaned back up around it and in it. It was broken into at some point and the wood stove stolen. These pictures are from last year, we did quite a bit this year to it. Sits on 500 acres in northern Maine.
Looks like a nice spot to get away! Must get a little toasty when your throwing darts! I’d show some inside pics but my stove install would prolly get my FHC member card pulled.
Watershed land behind my place I can spit on from the back porch. The lake covers over 1700 acres with alot of public land only accessible by boat.
Large mouth, and white bass. Crappie fishing is good along with some decent saugeye action. Big cats in this lake. It still holds the state record I believe.
We tried it a few times with no luck. I can't get past shoving my hand in not knowing what's going to latch on.
This is in unorganized territory but only 8 miles from their house in another town. Nearest neighbor is probably a mile away from the camp. People there have little money and drugs are an issue and they knew the camp wasn’t used but a month a year basically. Not the first time it was broken into. I plan on putting expanded steel over the windows to stop the rocks from going through and actually locking the doors. At least keep the honest criminals out. We will use it more once we do some other work on the property. Wife doesn’t like the no running water thing though and the outhouse.
